The Kentucky Wildcats take another hit from the transfer portal, as sharpshooter Collin Chandler departs marking yet another significant roster loss this offseason.

The Exodus Continues: Collin Chandler Enters Portal

With Chandler’s exit, UK’s returning core with proven, consistent minutes is now extremely thin, headlined by Kam Williams and Malachi Moreno. The lack of experienced returners only amplifies the urgency for roster reconstruction. Putting even more pressure on the staff to reload quickly through the portal and incoming talent.

The only other player who hasn’t made an announcement is Trent Noah, a Kentucky native who saw limited playing time this season. The notion that Chandler was just another name on the roster isn’t quite right, he contributed scoring and excellent 3-point shooting (with almost 10 PPG last year), floor spacing, and long-term potential. With him entering under a “Do Not Contact” tag, the general feeling is that he’s heading back home to BYU.

Kentucky’s Scoring Shuffle: The Post-Chandler Era Begins

The Wildcats roster leaves a significant scoring gap. He was a top shooter and reliable offensive option, so UK will need to identify who can pick up that production next season. Kentucky will likely look at high-volume scorers from the transfer portal to fill Chandler’s spot. They’ll prioritize guards or wings with strong shooting percentages and ability to create off the dribble.

Paulius Murauskas – St. Mary’s Forward

  • Averaged 18.4 PPG with strong offensive versatility and scoring efficiency.
  • Would give Kentucky a proven go‑to scorer and a mismatch weapon on offense.

Stefan Vaaks – Providence Guard/Forward

  • Averaged around 15.8 points per game in the Big East, showcasing scoring instincts at a high level.

Isaiah Johnson – Guard (Colorado)

  • Averaged 16.9 PPG with strong shooting splits (around 49/38/82).
  • Efficient scorer at all three levels.

The Wildcats are making point guard their top priority to start the portal season. Once they secure strong guard play, the rest of the team can fall into place. Focusing on who works well together and who will best contribute to the team’s overall dynamics.

Wildcat Memories: Celebrating Collin Chandler’s Time in Blue

One thing about Chandler is that, no matter the situation, he always seemed ready for the big moment. Even when he struggled to score, he played hard and gave his all, stepping into high-pressure moments. Especially late-game situations, with confidence and poise.

Fans will remember him as a sharpshooter who wasn’t afraid of the moment, a player who elevated the team when it counted.

The Kentucky Wildcats have some roster building to do in the coming weeks, and losing Chandler will be a major hit. He brought consistent scoring and clutch play for Mark Pope during his two seasons in Lexington.

This is the new landscape of college basketball time doesn’t wait. Players come and go, and programs must adapt quickly. The Wildcats now have to find another scorer who can deliver the kind of production Chandler provided, keeping the offense sharp and competitive.

A challenge, but also an opportunity — fresh talent, transfers, and portal additions can step up, and the team will move forward, ready to write the next chapter of Kentucky basketball.
