Jordyn Tyson is arguably the best receiver in the 2026 NFL draft, so why is he being discussed with a team picking in the 20s? His injury concerns have led some to believe he will slip, potentially into the Philadelphia Eagles’ grasp. If he falls far enough, Eagles GM Howie Roseman may make a move up for the supremely talented receiver.

Jordyn Tyson Draft Slide?

Tyson is certainly better than where he is being projected to go, but the truth is that NFL teams are very wary of injuries. Specifically, someone with such an extensive history as Tyson. He has dealt with major injuries since 2022, when he tore his ACL, MCL, and PCL. The injuries did not stop there; he broke his collarbone in 2024 and dealt with lingering hamstring issues last year.

Tyson is a receiver, with good health on his side, talented enough to be selected in the top ten of most draft classes. His play style is similar to that of players who dominate today’s NFL, such as Amon-Ra St. Brown and Ja’Marr Chase.

Tyson dominates jump balls, bringing in nearly 70% of his contested catches. His route running is awesome, appearing open on nearly every rep. His speed and physicality combination will help him succeed in the NFL.

Tyson had over 2,000 yards and 22 touchdowns in his three college seasons. His most impactful season came in 2024, when he exceeded 1,000 yards and brought in ten touchdowns. Fittingly, this was the only season he played more than nine games (12).

AJ Brown Situation

AJ Brown’s status with the Eagles directly correlates with the potential Tyson pick. If Brown isn’t being traded post-June 1st, the need for another receiver doesn’t exist, nor does the room on the roster.

The void a Brown trade would leave would be much larger than any rookie could fill. With that being said, drafting Tyson would give the Eagles a receiver with elite upside on a rookie-scale deal. The contract portion matters much more than most may expect, with the dead money a Brown trade would leave Philadelphia with. If he’s traded post- June 1st, Philadelphia would be on the books for over $50 million in total dead cap.

Roseman has buffed up the WR room with impressive depth, adding Hollywood Brown, Dontayvion Wicks, and Elijah Moore. Tyson, or any early-round receiver that is, only makes sense if Brown is off the roster when week one rolls around.

End Of My Jordyn Tyson Philadelphia Eagles Rant

Tyson is my personal WR1 in the 2026 NFL Draft, with his play and upside meaning much more than the potential injury red flags. Passing up on such a talent would be a mistake, and letting him drop to Philadelphia would be an even bigger one for the NFL.
