Redick is willing to work countless hours to ensure that he and his team are ready for the next challenge. His strong work ethic has paid off, too. The Lakers went 50-32 this regular season, good enough to rank them third in the stacked Western Conference.
The Lakers are currently facing the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round of the NBA Playoffs. They are down two games to one, but Redick has his eyes set on a deep playoff run. With his diligence in place, expect him to prepare his team well for the remainder of the series. He will not go down without a fight, and he wants to have a strong finish to his rookie season.
Perhaps the reason that stands out the most when making the case for Redick as Coach of the Year is his competitive mentality. This is an intangible that the first-year coach possesses. He coaches with an infectious gritty spirit that immediately gives his team an edge over the others.
