Earlier this week, it was initially reported that Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts was supposed to just be out for Philadelphia’s game against the Panthers on Sunday due to a superficial blood clot. Then, as more details emerged, this situation became even worse.

According to the Eagles’ official announcement last week, they discovered Hurts had this blood clot in his calf. But since it was only superficial, he was still able to play.

Then, seventy-two hours later, in their follow-up ultrasound, it was revealed that the small blood clot had moved.  This is very concerning because once a blood clot moves, it becomes a more serious and dangerous situation.

Eagles Playoff Chances Take A Major Hit After Jalen Hurts’ Blood Clot

Ian Rapoport followed up on his original report by saying Hurts is still out for Sunday but is also now out indefinitely. Following up on losing to Jacksonville, marking their third straight loss of this season, the Eagles’ season may already be over before Halloween.

Hurts most likely now will be put on blood thinners, and you can’t play football while being on thinners. With this being where we’re headed in a best-case scenario, Hurts is out for 45 days, meaning he would miss about 6-7 weeks.

Yet the Eagles already have a 2-3 record and face the Panthers, Commanders, Giants, Steelers, Cardinals, and Cowboys twice in this realistic best-case scenario for Hurts. Out of those teams, the Cardinals are the only game you can count on Philadelphia to win.

By the time Hurts would return in this realistic best-case scenario, if it’s six weeks, the Eagles could be 2-8. Or if it turned out to be seven weeks, the Eagles potentially have a 3-9 record and are well out of playoff contention. And by then there’s no point in bringing Hurts back for a season that’s already lost.

Eagles Injuries Continue To Pile Up After Jalen Hurts’ Blood Clot

Hurts blood clot situation is now added on top of all the other mountain of losses Philadelphia has suffered this season. Including all pro and future first-ballot Hall of Famer Lane Johnson retiring last week.

Cam Jurgens was traded to the Ravens last week for a second-round pick. Landen Dickerson has been on injured reserve since week one.

Saquon Barkley will now miss his second game in a row because of a hamstring injury. Their backup running to Barkely in, Tank Bigsby, was placed on injured reserve due to core muscle surgery.

Third-string running back Will Shipley, against the Jaguars, suffered a foot injury and has now been placed on injured reserve. Shipley has been moved to injured reserve in order for Philadelphia to sign Jordan Milton and make him their third-string quarterback.

Eagles’ new starting center Drew Kendall is in jeopardy of missing his second game in a row with a knee injury.  Jalyx Hunt, in the previous week against Jacksonville, suffered an ankle/knee injury.

DeVonta Smith is now coming back after missing two games because of a hamstring injury. Star linebacker Zack Baun missed week four against the Rams because of a concussion.

End Of Jalen Hurts’ Blood Clot Rant

Two years ago Philadelphia reached the pinnacle of the sport beating Kansas City, 40-22 in Super Bowl LIX. Yet just as open windows seem to be open, they close even faster.

Now, two years later, the window for that Eagles core of players has closed. Hurts blood clot situation is just the final nail in the coffin.
