Boston Celtics superstar Jaylen Brown has had an outstanding career so far. He is in his ninth season in the NBA, all of which have been with the Celtics.
The Start Of Brown’s Career
Brown attended the University of California, Berkeley for one year before getting drafted number three overall in the 2016 NBA Draft. Brown, who plays the shooting guard and small forward positions, has been an extremely valuable player to the Celtics throughout his career. He immediately made a positive impact, averaging 6.6 ppg, 0.8 apg, and 2.8 rpg in his rookie season when he played in just 17.2 min/game. The following year, when he started getting more playing time (30.7 min/game), he averaged an impressive 14.5 ppg, 1.6 apg, and 4.9 rpg. These numbers were strong considering the lack of experience that Brown had in the league. He continued to improve over the next few years.
Stats And Accolades
By the 2022-2023 season, Brown had improved his stats to 26.6 ppg, 3.5 apg, and 6.9 rpg. He has hovered around those numbers since then, averaging 22.2 ppg, 4.5 apg, and 5.8 rpg during the 2024-2025 NBA season. His overall career averages are 19.0 ppg, 2.6 apg, and 5.3 rpg.
In the playoffs, Brown has put up outstanding numbers as well. His postseason career averages are 19.3 ppg, 2.5 apg, and 5.7 rpg. This shows that he is a big-time performer, showing up during the high stakes moments. These are the moments when his team relies on him the most. He has a poised disposition that not only keeps himself in check, but his teammates as well.

In terms of Brown’s accolades, he has plenty of them. He is a four-time All-Star, 2024 NBA Champion, 2023-2024 NBA Finals MVP, 2023-2024 ECF MVP, 2022-2023 All-NBA Team, and 2016-2017 All-Rookie Team. Between his spectacular numbers and his accolades, he is on pace to be a future Hall of Famer.
How The Celtics Are Doing
The Celtics had a strong regular season and are currently in the Eastern Conference Semifinals (EC Semifinals), playing against the New York Knicks. They are down two games to none right now, but they are looking to turn things around in Game Three in New York.
As far as Brown’s EC Semifinals performance goes, he is contributing effectively. He had 23 points, five assists, and seven rebounds in Game One and 20 points, one assist, and six rebounds in Game Two. While his production has been solid, some of his teammates need to pick up their production if they want to comeback and win this series.
If any team is going to comeback from down two games and going on the road, it is going to be the Celtics. This is a situation in which a player like Brown relishes, welcoming the adversity. He will be able to help his team drown out the outside noise and remain calm and confident.
End Of My Brown Rant
The Celtics may be down against the Knicks, but a leader like Brown may be able to hold his team together and bring them back to win the series. Expect Brown and the Celtics to turn their games up a notch for the rest of the series.
