During Barcelona’s match against Alves, superstar Lamine Yamal had a great game where he showed his skills. This ended up with people comparing him to Messi, and Hansi Flick had to comment on that.
The match against Alves witnessed Yamal’s side winning a tough game with 1-0. During the game, Yamal had a masterclass where he toyed with Alves’s players.
One such moment was when the young star dribbled past several of Alves’s players after getting the ball in his half. This move left fans in awe as they started comparing him to the likes of Lionel Messi.
The comparisons of Yamal to Messi aren’t anything new. They have been happening for a while now. The style of dribbling during Alves game was very similar to Messi’s own dribbling skills.
Out of around 21 dribbles against Alves, Yamal managed to complete 11 of them. This isn’t an easy task at all.
While some managers might be delighted when a player of theirs gets compared with Messi, this wasn’t the case with Flick. Speaking to reporters, the coach commented on the Messi comparisons by saying:
“I am not a fan of that. Lamine is a genius. What he did today, in some situations, it’s unbelievable. I am very happy that he is playing for Barca. It’s great.”
On the other hand, Flick made it clear that he loves Yamal’s performances:
“For 17 years old, he’s doing great, and every match is good. And the opponents are not so easy to play against. They are strong, defending good, they try to attack him, aggressive, but he’s doing good. I love it.”
With this unique talent, no one can argue against the fact that Yamal’s future is bright. The young talent has been stealing the lights for a long time, and this is just the beginning.
He is quite essential for Barcelona, especially since his absence is always felt and affects the entire team’s performance. Surely, Barcelona will hope that Yamal keeps performing like this for a long time.
Barcelona’s win against Alves was one that they heavily needed. After Real Madrid’s loss against Espanyol, Alves’s game became a must-win one for Barcelona; they managed to do that.
Now, Barcelona are four points behind Madrid, and the race for La Liga title is alive and well. With players of Yamal’s class, Barcelona has a chance to bounce back.
