These are the France vs. Spain results on July 14, 2026, for the FIFA World Cup 2026 semifinal. With only one draw and no losses between them, only one of these soccer powerhouses could advance to the final on Sunday, July 19, 2026. Which nation will make the trek from Arlington, Texas, up to East Rutherford, New Jersey, while the other returns home to a heartbroken fan base that was so close they could taste it?

First Half – FIFA World Cup 2026 Semifinal

The first huge moment of the opening half came in the 22nd minute. Spanish forward Lamine Yamal drew a penalty kick while attempting to play the ball as it was plummeting. French left-back Lucas Digne missed the ball and drilled him in the hip. Forward Mikel Oyarzabal stepped up to bang home the penalty kick, putting Spain up 1-0 just moments before the hydration break.

Spain continued control from there, with elite pressure and ball movement. The few times France gained forward momentum, they were met with a wall around the net, keeping them at a distance throughout the game. The French side finished the first half without a single shot on target, frustrated, and searching for answers.

Second Half – FIFA World Cup 2026 Semifinal

The second half carried on with the same story. In the 58th minute, Spanish right-back Pedro Porro buried one from a beautiful give-and-go with midfielder Dani Olmo, doubling the lead to 2-0. France mustered just one shot on goal before the second hydration break.

France finally started applying genuine pressure in the final ten minutes of regulation. That said, they still failed to hit the target for the second time until the 95th minute, and never could break the keeper.
