FC Barcelona are reportedly ready to bolster their defense with a potential Jonathan Tah signing.
FC Barcelona are preparing to sign Jonathan Tah in order to add more depth to their defensive line. According to Fabrizio Romano, the club is in advanced talks with Tah over a potential move. The move would be significant to the club, but it won’t be an easy one to seal.
If Barcelona managed to sign Tah, it would be through a free transfer. The transfer will probably take place next summer. Bayer Leverkusen’s defender has been a target for Barca for a while now, and it could be a great signing for them.
The defender’s contract with his current club will end in June 2025. This means that FC Barcelona will be able to sign a pre-contract agreement with Tah for free starting from next month. According to Romano, the negotiations between Tah and the club are progressing well.
One reason that could explain why FC Barcelona are after Tah is his talent; this is the obvious reason. Another reason could be Hansi Flick himself. Barcelona’s manager was previously the head coach for Germany. Therefore, he is familiar with Tah and what he can offer to Barcelona.
In addition, the team needs to strengthen their defense. They already have Pau Cubarsi and Inigo Martinez who have been performing well. There is also the near return of Ronald Araujo. The only problem is the doubt surrounding the future of Andreas Christensen. The player has been out of action this season due to an injury. So singing Tah can put an end to the club’s worries.
The potential move to FC Barcelona could be pivotal for Tah. The player has been playing for Bayer Leverkusen since 2015. It is about time he searched for a new stop in his career. There is also the fact that it is the dream of many players to play for Barca. This could justify the mutual interest between the club and the player.
While Romano reports that Barcelona’s talks with Tah are progressing well, that doesn’t mean that it is a done deal. The player has attracted the attention of several clubs. One of these clubs is Real Madrid who have their own problems with injuries.
Bayern Munich are also interested in the 28-year-old center-back. However, it seems that the player has FC Barcelona as his number one destination. Whether things will change or not is still unknown. So FC Barcelona fans will have to wait and see what will happen next and whether the club will sign Tah or not.
