Week 14 of NFL fantasy football marks the end of the regular season in many leagues. With four teams on a late bye, this week also means some owners will be without key players during this final push for playoff seeding. Here are some of the top streaming options for this crucial fantasy week.
Veteran quarterback Tyrod Taylor has always been a high-floor, low-ceiling QB. Since taking over as the New York Jets signal caller, that has remained the case. After throwing for 222 yards and a touchdown in Baltimore against the Ravens, Taylor went for 216 total yards and two total TDs in the win over the Atlanta Falcons. Those numbers are not necessarily eye-popping, but they are more than respectable.
While the Miami Dolphins have been playing better football lately, they did allow rookie QB Tyler Shough to go for 240 yards and two touchdowns last week in Miami. Taylor should be a solid fantasy play against this Dolphins defense, which has allowed the tenth-most yards per game this year.
Even in the midst of tougher competition, running back Chris Rodriguez has found a way to stay relevant in fantasy lately. In each of the last four contests, he has either scored a touchdown or had 80 total yards from scrimmage. The Minnesota Vikings have allowed at least one rushing TD in six straight games. With the 224-pound Rodriguez handling most of the Washington Commanders’ goal-line work, he could very well be the player to extend that streak.
Los Angeles Rams tight end Colby Parkinson saw his three-game TD streak come to an end last week against the Carolina Panthers. With a pretty generous Arizona Cardinals defense (tenth most points allowed) on the slate this week, however, Parkinson could find pay dirt again.
The Rams should not have much trouble moving the ball down the field, especially now that Cardinals starting cornerback Max Melton has been ruled out with a heel injury. Parkinson, perhaps surprisingly, has been Matthew Stafford’s second-favorite target in the red zone this season, seeing one more opportunity than Puka Nacua inside the 20.
For fantasy owners looking to fill that George Kittle or even Hunter Henry void for a week, Parkinson could be a solid play.
Wide receiver Devaughn Vele is coming off a career day in Week 13 against the Dolphins, posting a line of 8/93/1 in the four-point loss. The New Orleans Saints’ number one WR, Chris Olave, is dealing with a back injury, limiting him at practice throughout the week. Even if Olave ultimately plays, he probably will not be at full health, which could lead to more targets for Vele.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense has allowed at least 270 passing yards and two TDs through the air in four consecutive games. The Saints will likely be playing from behind, per the usual, as 8.5-point underdogs. With that in mind, rookie QB Tyler Shough, who is averaging 36 passing attempts over the last three games, should continue letting it rip. Vele is bound to see a fair share of those targets.
The Tennessee Titans versus the Cleveland Browns matchup has the lowest over-under by far at 33.5. In the battle of two bottom-five offenses, the Titans should be a solid fantasy play in Week 14. Despite the season being abysmal overall, Tennessee’s defense has had its moments, and actually ranks in the top half of the league in sacks.
The Browns will be without their starting right guard and tackle this week. Additionally, Shedeur Sanders tends to hold on to the ball longer than desired for an offense. With those factors combined, the Titans should see plenty of sack opportunities in this road matchup and perhaps some forced fumbles additionally.
The late bye week absolutely sucks for fantasy football players. An owner may be missing one or two stud players while looking to secure that first-round bye or fight for the last playoff spot. In my case, the ladder is the situation, as I am without Kittle and Treveyon Henderson while trying to hold on to that sixth and final playoff spot.
Unfortunately, the circumstances are what they are for many fantasy owners and me. Almost every week, however, some player unexpectedly goes off, and those listed in this rant could be in line to do just that. If the right streamers are selected, it may ultimately help you reach fantasy football glory.
