The SEC Women’s Basketball power rankings through week three of league action for the 2024-25 season:
SEC Top Contenders
1. South Carolina:
The reigning national champions are still going strong, returning nearly everyone from last year’s squad, including sophomore MiLaysia Fulwiley, and adding No. 2 recruit Joyce Edwards. The Gamecocks ended week three with a massive blowout over the 13th-ranked Oklahoma Sooners at home 101-60. Early in the week, Joyce Edwards was big in the fourth quarter, scoring 11 of her 21 points to put away Top 20 Alabama on the road 76-58. Suddenly, Dawn Staley seems to have them clicking at the right time, as they remain 6-0 in conference play.

Up next: Home vs LSU for a big top-five mid-week game on Friday and then a clash on the road at No. 17 Tennessee on Sunday.
2. LSU: Up 1 Spot
The Tigers have a new-look lineup without post-player Angel Reese. However, veterans Aneesah Morrow and Flau’jae Johnson are leading the charge, alongside transfer additions Shayeann Day-Wilson and Kailyn Gilbert. Morrow is a double-double machine. At 5-0, the Tigers opened SEC play with three road wins, including on the road in Knoxville over the Vols. We get Kim Mulkey versus Dawn Staley mid-week for a special rivalry showdown.
No. 5 LSU's game at No. 2 South Carolina has been postponed to this Friday due to travel issues brought on by Winter Storm Enzo.

The game will tipoff at 4 p.m. CT and will still air on ESPN. pic.twitter.com/v20Vg2Deju
Up next: Tough road game at #2 South Carolina on Friday and home versus Texas A&M on Sunday.
3. Texas: Down 1 Spot
With a healthy roster, the Longhorns are a force to be reckoned with, boasting sophomore All-American Madison Booker and fifth-year coach Vic Schaefer’s veteran talent additions. The Longhorns bounced back this week after a loss to the Gamecocks with wins over the Auburn Tigers and a top-ten Maryland team. At 4-1 and ranked seventh this week, the Longhorns are still on the hunt in the conference and nationally.

we will now take on no. 17 Tennessee at 7 PM on ESPN tomorrow 🤘➡️ https://t.co/BHVbX6nEsU#HookEm pic.twitter.com/41A5zFfJ13
Up next: At home versus #17 Tennessee on Thursday and the road to take on the Ole Miss Rebels on Sunday.
4. Kentucky: Up 1 Spot
The Wildcats have a new coach in Kenny Brooks and brought All-American point guard Georgia Amoore and center Clara Strack with him. Adding Amelia Hassett from JUCO, Dazia Lawrence from Charlotte, and Teonni Key from North Carolina has given them a dynamic starting five.
Kentucky begins SEC play 5-0 and is one of three undefeated teams with South Carolina and LSU. The Wildcats have won all five games by 14 or more points, while All-American PG Georgia Amoore has had 20-plus points in every game but one since early December. Sophomore center Clara Strack is also pushing to be included in SEC postseason awards with her play.
Our second sellout of the season. 🫡

Up Next: A trip to Texas A&M on Thursday and back home to take on the Arkansas Razorbacks on Sunday.
Middle Of The Pack
5. Oklahoma: Down 1 Spot
The Sooners returned all five starters and added Oregon State transfer Raegan Beers, making them a deep and experienced team. A brutal home loss over #5 Texas and an embarrassing defeat at South Carolina has dropped this team down a spot. At 3-3 in league play, they still have the experience and talent to be dangerous if they can figure it out over the next few weeks.
Up next: The Sooners have the mid-week off to regroup and return home to take on the Georgia Lady Bulldogs on Sunday.
6. Tennessee: Up 1 Spot
The new coach, Kim Caldwell, has given the volunteers a lot of depth, returning Jewel Spear and adding transfer additions to Ruby Whitehorn and Samara Spencer. A 13-0 season-opening has turned into a 3-3 start to SEC play. However, the Lady Vols have three losses by a combined four points. Some tough losses closing out games have kept them from being higher but also show they are a force as league play heats up as February approaches.
Up Next: They travel to Texas for a tough matchup on Thursday night and take on a hot South Carolina team on the road in a primetime game on Monday night.

7. Alabama: Down 1 Spot
The Crimson Tide brought back four of their top five scorers, including Sarah Ashlee Barker and Jessica Timmons, and added veteran talent from the transfer portal. Zaay Green leads the Tide in scoring and hung tough at home against the Gamecocks this week. They were only down four points with about six minutes to go before Joyce Edwards pushed the game out late in a 76-58 loss. Playing without Barker, they bounced back on the road over Arkansas to be 4-2 in league play after week three.
Up Next: The Tide have the mid-week off and play 15-4 Vanderbilt at home on Sunday.
8. Mississippi:
The Rebels have a guard-heavy lineup led by seniors Madison Scott and KK Deans. They played well in a home route over Florida and a road win over a good Mississippi State squad. Sitting at 4-2 in SEC play, they can move up in the power rankings with a couple of big wins.
Up next: This week, they rest on Thursday and invite the #7 ranked Longhorns for a home battle on Sunday.
