Edge is missing from WWE’s ranking of the greatest Money in the Bank winners. WWE released “Greatest Money in the Bank Ladder Match wins: WWE Top 10” on its YouTube channel on Oct. 4. Liv Morgan’s 2022 win sits at No. 1.

Seth Rollins (2014) is second, followed by Big E (2021), IYO SKY (2023), and Damian Priest (2023). Brock Lesnar (2019), Naomi (2025), CM Punk (2008), Carmella (2017), and The Miz (2010) fill out the rest of the list. The 2008 entry is the oldest one on the board. Morgan cashed in on Ronda Rousey the same night she won her briefcase in 2022.

The Miz cashed in on Randy Orton on the Nov. 22, 2010, edition of Raw to win the WWE Championship. At WrestleMania 31, Rollins cashed in during the main event between Lesnar and Roman Reigns. Carmella held her contract for 287 days before cashing in on Charlotte Flair on SmackDown in 2018.

Edge Created The Money In The Bank Cash-In

Edge outlasted five other wrestlers to win the inaugural Money in the Bank ladder match at WrestleMania 21 on April 3, 2005. The contract guaranteed him a world championship match at any time within one year. Nine months later, at New Year’s Revolution on Jan. 8, 2006, he used it.

John Cena had just retained the WWE Championship inside the Elimination Chamber that night. Edge cashed in on the champion moments later and won the title with two Spears. The victory gave the Rated-R Superstar his first world championship. No one had cashed in a Money in the Bank contract before. His first reign ended three weeks later, when Cena won the title back at Royal Rumble on Jan. 29, 2006.

Edge Cashed In Again In 2007

Edge beat Mr. Kennedy on the May 7, 2007, edition of Raw to take the Money in the Bank contract. The win made Edge the first two-time holder of the contract, and he earned it outside a ladder match. Four days later, on the May 11 SmackDown, he cashed in on The Undertaker to win the World Heavyweight Championship.

The two cash-ins earned Edge the nickname “Ultimate Opportunist.” Over his career, he won 11 world championships, with four WWE Championship reigns and seven World Heavyweight Championship reigns. Cervical spinal stenosis forced him to retire in 2011, and WWE inducted Edge into its Hall of Fame the next year. Edge returned at Royal Rumble in 2020. The Rated-R Superstar now competes in All Elite Wrestling under his real name, Adam Copeland.

CM Punk’s Spot On The List Came At Edge’s Expense

Punk won the Money in the Bank ladder match at WrestleMania XXIV in 2008. On the June 30, 2008, edition of Raw, Punk cashed in on World Heavyweight Champion Edge. Punk left that night with the title.

End Of My Edge Rant

Edge belongs on the list, and a strong case puts Edge in the top three. Every cash-in on the list follows the blueprint the Rated-R Superstar drew up at New Year’s Revolution. Waiting for a champion to survive a brutal match and then striking was Edge’s move first. The concept that made Morgan, Rollins, and Priest champions started with him. The WrestleMania 31 heist and the WrestleMania 40 cash-in both trace back to that night in 2006.

Punk’s entry makes the snub even louder. The No. 8 spot on the list exists because the Second City Saint cashed in on Edge. The Rated-R Superstar appears in that story as the champion who lost, not the man who started it all. A ranking that includes the man who cashed in on Edge, but leaves off the Ultimate Opportunist himself, is missing its foundation.

Edge did it twice, won his first world title with it, and earned a nickname from it. Whatever the reason for leaving Edge off, the list is incomplete. Morgan’s No. 1 spot can stay, but Edge, who wrote the playbook, needs a place in the top 10. Any top 10 Money in the Bank ranking has to start with the inventor of the cash-in itself.
