The college football world is fascinated with Dylan Raiola transfer portal rumors. The former Nebraska quarterback is making the rounds to find his 2026 home. He will be visiting Eugene, Oregon, to see if his services will be picked up by the Ducks. There are several dominoes that need to fall to make that a reality, and his decision could push the first one over.
It did not end the way he wanted, but Dante Moore has had an amazing season. The redshirt sophomore completed 71.8% of his passes in 2025 for 238 yards per game and 30 touchdowns to 10 interceptions. He is widely considered a top prospect in the 2026 NFL Draft, along with the man who ended his season, Fernando Mendoza. After his team’s heartbreaking loss to the Hoosiers, Moore was asked about the prospect of playing in the pros next year.
“I’m going to soak this moment up and, most importantly, give my hugs and thank yous to my teammates. But at the end of the day, I don’t know my decision yet. I’m going to talk to Coach Lanning and talk to my family and everybody, but at the end of the day, I don’t want to think about that right now.”
This is the cookie-cutter response for most players following a loss, and most likely, Moore will enter the draft and hear his name called with one of the first two picks in April. If that happens, then there is no problem, but what happens if Moore decides he wants to run it back and try to get the title he missed this year?
This is just a visit. Before making his decisions, Raiola will probably make sure the seat he chooses is empty before he tries to sit down. It’s hard not to speculate about the potential drama that could ensue, though, if Moore wants to stay and Raiola wants to play for Oregon.
Raiola would not be joining the Ducks to sit out a year or compete for the starting job. If he chooses Oregon, then he is planning to start. If Oregon accepts him coming in, that means they are saying goodbye to Moore, which could add some Tabasco sauce to the spicy jambalaya that is the transfer portal. It would be saying to the world that Lanning blames Moore for the loss, and he thinks he can do better with Raiola.
That scenario would also push Moore into the transfer portal, and he would be out for bloody revenge. The list of teams he would consider would be short, and they’d have to be primed for a championship. Indiana would be out, having already inked Josh Hoover to be their starter next season. Miami would need a replacement for Carson Beck, but they just squeaked into the playoffs this past season, so they have more moves to make.
Ohio State is all in on Julian Sayin and wouldn’t dare entertain bringing in Moore. The most likely destination would be Alabama, with Ty Simpson taking his shot at the NFL. Kalen DeBoer is coming off a pathetic 11-4 season, and folks in Tuscaloosa are calling for his head. Bringing in a quarterback like Moore could put the Tide atop the rankings to strart next season, and save DeBoer’s job.
Raiola hasn’t signed yet, and there are other schools he could visit besides Oregon. If Moore chooses to come back, Raiola could go to Bama instead. No matter what happens, Raiola will be on another team next season, and that team will give him a much better chance to win than the Cornhuskers ever did.
