The Steelers just got a major upgrade to their receiving corps. The Seahawks dealt DK Metcalf to Pittsburgh for a second round pick in this year’s draft.
How Much Will This Improve The Steelers Offensively?
Pittsburgh had their struggles on offense last season. The ranked 20th in points per game, coming in at 21.9. They performed slightly worse in yards per game, 317.2. That put them at 23rd in the league. Specifically in the passing game they definitely needed to be better. DK Metcalf will certainly help them in that area. The Steelers ranked 26th in passing yards per game, averaging only 195.3.
DK Metcalf will be a welcome addition to the team.

Their current receiving corps is highlighted by George Pickens, and Calvin Austin III. The duo combined for only 1,448 yards with Pickens getting 900 and Austin III recording 548. TE Pat Friermuth, a fan favorite, did a great job of picking up the slack. He led the team with seven TDs and had 653 yards receiving.
Metcalf had great seasons in Seattle. Three out of his six seasons on the Seahawks saw him go over 1,000 yards receiving. He also was a great endzone option for Russell Wilson. In 2020 he had 10 receiving TDs and had 12 in 2021. The chemistry that Wilson and Metcalf have together is just what the Steelers needed.

Will it finally get their offense going in the passing game?
What Will Be Seattle’s Next Move After Metcalf Trade?
The Seahawks made the tough decision to trade Metcalf. He was their number one option alongside Tyler Lockett. Speaking of Lockett, he was released from the team not long ago. That leaves Jaxson Smith-Ngjiba as the top option in Seattle. They may go for a WR in the draft, that remains to be seen.
Otherwise, trading Metcalf opens up lots of cap space. They now have a staggering 83 million dollars to spend. That certainly will be a topic of conversation as free agency continues. Will they go out and spend big to get a replacement for DK? Could they just spend the money elsewhere and see how the draft goes? Those questions will be answered in the coming weeks.
End Of My DK Metcalf Rant
The Seahawks made a huge move and it may payoff. Freeing up space for another couple players may be what they needed. The Steelers certainly improved their offense. Can Metcalf replicate his success in Seattle? Only time will tell, but the Steelers hit a home run.
