There is no doubt that the Bulls have finished the last quarter of the season on an absolute heater, whether it has been buzzer beaters, comebacks, or flat-out dominance.
With the team’s hard work, they have clinched a home play-in tournament after beating the Miami Heat last night 119-111, in hopes of entering the playoff contention.
Who has been able to show up when the team needed him the most? Josh Giddey.
In last night’s game against the Heat, Giddey got his seventh triple-double of the season. He has come up clutch this season, firing from all cylinders on the stat sheet. He’s trying all that he can to let the Oklahoma City Thunder know they made a mistake trading him away.
Giddey joins elite company in two categories after last night’s game:
-Joins Lebron James and Nikola Jokic as the only players this season to record 1,000 PTS, 500 REB, and 500 AST.
-Joins Giannis Antetokounmpo and Larry Bird as the only players with 28 PTS, 16+ REB, 11+ AST, 2+ STL, 3+ BLK in a single game in NBA history.
What the Bulls front office should consider after this season: Giddey and Coby White need long-term contracts. These two have been draining shots from all over the court, helping this team succeed. White has been breaking his own franchise records every other year, like Zach Lavine used to when he was in Chicago.
Giddey and the Bulls have given it their all to finish the season, squeezing by to clinch their home play-in tournament, but squeezing by is not enough. Although the Bulls have indeed been winning, a handful of games have come from very close scores, too close for comfort. Chicago needs to ramp it up even more and consistently dominate their wins, keep Giddey on the court and let him shoot.
