The Denver Broncos have a lot to be optimistic about entering the 2025 NFL season. In a rebuilding year, the Broncos appeared to have found their franchise quarterback in Bo Nix, and made the postseason for the first time in ten years.

With a long offseason ahead, George Paton and company will look to upgrade the roster through the draft and free agency. But could Denver hit the phones and acquire a star wide receiver through a trade? One NFL social media account thinks so.

Broncos Could Trade First Round Pick For Chris Olave

X, formerly Twitter, user @_MLFootball, who has 323K followers, suggested that the Denver Broncos ship their 2025 first-round pick (20th overall) to the New Orleans Saints for wide receiver Chris Olave. The 11th overall pick of the 2022 NFL Draft had a great college career at Ohio State and recorded back-to-back 1,000+ yard seasons before missing most of the 2024 season with a concussion.

While he hasn’t been one of the top wide receivers in the league, Olave has been a star despite having five different quarterbacks throw the ball to him in his three-year career. A potential trade to Denver could give him a chance to break out in his fourth season.

Denver Trades: 2025 1st (20th Overall); New Orleans Trades: WR Chris Olave

While Courtland Sutton has been a good receiver for the Broncos, he hasn’t been a go-to guy that can elevate offenses. With only two 1,000+ yard seasons in seven years in Denver, Sutton has proven to be a reliable WR2. With a trade for Olave, it would give Bo Nix a true WR1 which in turn would help both Nix and Olave a chance to have career seasons.

In the last few years, teams like the Philadelphia Eagles, Cincinnati Bengals, and Buffalo Bills have traded or spent first-round picks on elite wide receivers that elevate the offense and help the quarterback breakout. While the Broncos have a lot of young talent at wide receiver with Marvin Mims Jr. and Devaughn Vele, adding the former Ohio State Buckeye who is only 24 years old will help boost its chances of making a deep postseason run and develop their franchise quarterback.
