Claude Giroux Flyers Fit

Giroux is one of the best players in Flyers history, but some fans have questioned the move to bring him back. The new management regime has pushed for a “new era of orange”, but instead, they are bringing back the face of the previous era. He played in 1000 games for Philadelphia, scoring 900 points.
Giroux will easily slot into the bottom-six of the Flyers’ lineup, adding some serious depth to the talent pool on the wing. With this move, they may have to find a trade partner for one of their younger wingers. The only way around that would be if Giroux is open to playing center, something he hasn’t done in about six years.
Giroux will bring back a ton of needed skills to the city of brotherly love. Most importantly, his ability to win faceoffs. They have struggled mightily in that area, having to rely solely on Sean Couturier and Christian Dvorak in big moments.
Philadelphia Flyers Offseason Outlook

The Flyers have a ton of salary flexibility this offseason and have already made use of some of that money. In addition to the Giroux contract, they also added Noel Acciari to replenish the fourth line.
Trevor Zegras and Jamie Drysdale will need extensions, and Drysdale appears close to finalizing his. Rumors circulating say his AAV could fall in the $6-$6.5mil range. If that’s the case, that’s a fantastic deal for the Flyers.
Tyson Foerster (8yrs/$7mil AAV) and Dan Vladar (5yrs/$5.5mil AAV) have already signed extensions this offseason.
The Flyers had reportedly been targeting some major names this offseason, but have fallen short in all scenarios. Darnell Nurse was traded to the San Jose Sharks, John Carlson signed a contract with the Tampa Bay Lightning, and Zach Werenski is reportedly staying with the Columbus Blue Jackets.
The most recent report: The Flyers have signed an offer sheet with free agent Center Leo Carlsson worth an AAV of $18 million over four years. The Anaheim Ducks have seven days to match. If they do not match, the Flyers will owe them four consecutive first-round draft picks.
End Of My Claude Giroux Philadelphia Flyers Rant

Overall, the Flyers bringing Giroux back would be a great move from a hockey and organizational standpoint. He brings more talent to the bottom of the lineup and knows what it’s like to play for the franchise. Danny Briere may get some hate for this move, but it’s a very good overall signing.
