Chelsea are reported to leading the race for Manchester United’s talent Kobbie Mainoo in case he leaves United.
In shocking news, the Daily Mail reported that Chelsea are leading the race to sign Manchester United’s Kobbie Mainoo. With speculations about whether Mainoo will leave Old Trafford or not, the Blues have set their eyes on the rising talent.
A player with Mainoo’s talent would be the dream of any team and not just Chelsea. Therefore, it is understandable that they want the teenager despite it being unpredictable. The team set their eyes on Mainoo as problems started to appear with his contract negotiations at United.
As reported, Mainoo’s representatives have reached a stalemate in contract talks happening with Manchester United. This alerted Chelsea, along with several clubs, that Mainoo might change his club in the near future. According to sources, the club is ready to sign Mainoo if he doesn’t agree on a new deal with United.
The chances of Chelsea landing Mainoo can be seen as quite good. Right now, Mainoo is reported to wanting £200,000 per week along with bonuses. This is the reason behind Manchester United not reaching a deal with his representatives. The blues, on the other hand, might be willing to pay Mainoo the contract he thinks that he deserves.
Plus, Mainoo wants bouneses along with his weekly wage to reflect his status as a first-team player. Manchester United’s efforts to keep Mainoo are hindered by their need to lower their wage bill this transfer window. The club is open to letting go of players such as Casemiro and Marcus Rashford in order to comply with profit and sustainability rules.
Another reason that makes Chelsea lead the chase for Mainoo is their ability to meet his demands. After all, it is reported that their pay ceiling meets Mainoo’s demands which makes a deal possible if he chose to leave United. They are also preforming better than Manchester United which might make them a more appealing destination.
With United struggling under Ruben Amorim, Mainoo is rightfully worried about his chances of playing in the Champions League. Chelsea might be able to sway him to their side if they played their cards right. Despite all the speculation, Manchester United are hopeful that they will reach a deal with Mainoo. Whether or not they will manage to shut the door in interested clubs’ faces is yet to be seen.
