The debate on the best players in the world will probably never end, and Kevin De Bruyne has joined the conversation as he praised his Belgian fellow, Eden Hazard.
In an interview with Sky Sports, Kevin De Bruyne made sure to show his appreciation toward Hazard and his talent. The Manchester City star sees Hazard as one of the most gifted footballers in his generation.
When asked about the greatest Belgian player in Premier League history, Kevin De Bruyne had his answer ready as he said “For me, it has to be Eden.”
Kevin De Bruyne then elaborated on what he meant and how he sees Hazard in the history of the game.
“I think, talent-wise, he’s probably like top-five in the world behind Messi, Ronaldo, Neymar. Eden on his day was so, so good. His quality in one-v-one, his dribbling, he never seemed to care, he was just playing football. I played with him since we were both 16 and he’s a really nice guy too.”
When it comes to talent, Kevin De Bruyne is right that Hazard had one of the best talents in the world. The Belgian star shined at Chelsea coming from Lille.
During his time there, he helped Chelsea win six trophies including two Premier League titles.
Despite Hazard’s talent which is undeniable, I must disagree with Kevin De Bruyne. Hazard did in fact have great talent, but there are more players who deserve to be in the top five along with Messi, Ronaldo, and Neymar.
One such player is Mohammed Salah who has been performing at the highest level for several seasons.
There is no comparison between the Belgian and the Egyptian king; Salah will always win. Not to mention that Hazard’s career took a turn for the worse as he left Real Madrid and then retired. Salah on the other hand is still here and still performing.
Whether people agree or disagree on Hazard’s talent, one thing is for sure, people would like to see him happy and okay. De Bruyne gave an update on Hazard and described his last moments in the game.
“Unfortunately, he had the injuries when he came to Madrid, and he retired. I spoke to him the other day before the Chelsea game, his son was coming to the game. He’s enjoying his life, and I’m happy he’s happy. He was such a talented player.”
De Bruyne is, of course, entitled to his own opinion. He might see Hazard as one of the top five players because they played for the same national team, or simply because he truly believes that. No matter what is the answer, Hazard remains a great player, especially during his prime.
