The first night of WrestleMania 42 is behind us, and it included “The Man” Becky Lynch vs AJ Lee for the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship. Could Lee surprise the WWE Universe by retaining and staying with the company for an extended period, or is it time to move on from the blast from the past?

Becky Lynch Vs. AJ Lee – Grand WrestleMania 42 Entrances

Both women had additions to their special WrestleMania introductions. Lynch entered as The Wonder Years performed a live rendition of her entrance song, “New Lows.” It was executed well by the band as well, adding to the entertainment value. Lee was led out of the gorilla by a group of children, who were all dressed and dancing like her.

Jessica Carr & Becky Lynch Heat

The story of the match itself played off the budding friction between Lynch and referee Jessica Carr. The referee first caught the challenger removing a turnbuckle pad. Some choppy wrestling followed, with numerous moments where they were obviously calling the next spot.

The following segment happened when Lynch was giving the boots to Lee in the corner, while Carr tried to pull her out after a five-count. They’d exchange shoves before the champion tried to take advantage of the situation, but it only resulted in a false finish.

The final moment was also the finish to the match. After removing the turnbuckle pad yet again, Lynch used Carr as a shield before slamming Lee into the exposed steel. Moments later, The Man became the new WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion.

End Of My Becky Lynch Vs. AJ Lee Rant

The match had very little actual wrestling, and the article above covers the events in near entirety. The cheap pop of dropping the Women’s Intercontinental Championship to Lee out of nowhere is finally over. It’s always better to have a full-time wrestler carry the division, although it’s time WWE considered some new faces for the women’s IC picture.
