Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears arrived back in Landover, MD, taking the 25-24 win after the gut-wrenching Hail Mary loss last season against the Washington Commanders.

The Bears’ defense came in clutch with three takeaways in the game, while Washington had only three turnovers all season. Chicago got two fumble recoveries and an interception by safety Jaquan Brisker.

Key Players

Bears running back D’Andre Swift led the team in both receiving (two receptions, 67 yards, and a touchdown) and rushing yards (14 carries, 108 yards). He was a massive part of the offense.

Regardless of getting a kick blocked, kicker Jake Moody went 4/5 on FG and 1/1 XP. He was brought up from the practice squad to fill in for Cairo Santos.

Left tackle Theo Benedet has been outstanding so far this season. He put up quite a fight with Maxx Crosby with the Raiders and held his own in this game.

Still Struggling In Red Zone

It cannot be emphasized enough that the Bears are allergic to consistently scoring in the red zone. The score could’ve been much higher.

The camera pans to Williams on the sideline, and you can see how visibly frustrated and upset he is when he throws a TD, but there’s always a flag.

Holding, illegal formation, or any small, stupid error. It needs to stop. No one wants to settle for a field goal, but it’s better than no points.

Who’s Next?

Williams and the Bears head back to the Windy City to take on Spencer Rattler and the New Orleans Saints. There is not much to worry about going into this game.

Rattler and the Saints have struggled to a 1-5 start, putting up numbers and coming back but failing to capitalize on big wins.

Chicago needs to minimize the number of penalties they are getting every game, so there is no need to fret about beating New Orleans at home.

End Of My Chicago Bears Rant

I’ve had recurring nightmares about that Hail Mary game last season, and I had this game on my calendar, ready for revenge. It was a great game overall, with back-and-forth scoring. Had Jayden Daniels not fumbled the ball on the handoff, there was a good chance the Commanders would have walked away with the win. Thank God for some rain and drizzle; we got it done. On to the next.
