Draymond Green and Austin Rivers traded personal shots in a viral feud. Rivers questioned Green’s legacy while defending his own career.

“Draymond, you were the luckiest basketball player I’ve ever seen. You were drafted to a franchise with a Hall of Fame front office, Bob Myers, Hall of Fame coach, Steve Kerr, greatest shooter of all-time, Stephen Curry. Klay Thompson, Kevin Durant, Andre Iguodala, Andrew Wiggins, Jordan Poole — who you chased off. Draymond, you’re the backpack jump shooter,” Rivers stated.

Why Austin Rivers Is Right About The Draymond Dynasty Tax

Rivers couldn’t have said this any better. Green’s suspension was a factor in the Warriors’ loss in the 2016 NBA Finals. Many fans believe Green’s relationship with Kevin Durant contributed to Durant leaving in 2019. Draymond’s altercation with Jordan Poole contributed to Golden State moving Poole shortly after. Some fans believe the Warriors could have won more titles if Green had better controlled his emotions.

Rivers did not use nepotism to get into the league. He was the #1 high school player in the world who got accepted to the Duke Blue Devils. He was drafted by the New Orleans Pelicans, a team no young player can win on. Rivers peaked with the Los Angeles Clippers at 15 PPG as the 7th man. He carved out an 11-year NBA career while averaging 8.5 PPG.

Green is one of the smartest players the NBA has ever seen. He’s arguably the most versatile defender ever. The fact that he’s still defending at an elite level more than a decade into his career is remarkable. He’d be good anywhere.

Green had help, but he also held his own. He changed the game by being able to play center, which allowed the Warriors to play small ball.

End Of My Draymond Green vs Austin Rivers Rant

Green has had the better career, but Rivers is the better player. Austin is more skilled and athletic, while Draymond found a great situation.

Green was a Defensive Player of the Year and five-time First Team All-Defense. He was also four-time Second Team All-Defense, four-time NBA Champion, and will be a Hall of Famer. People can say what they want about him, but he is also a big part of why Golden State won.
