After another trophyless season, Arsenal are eager to add high-quality talent to their squad. Real Madrid winger Rodrygo has emerged as a top target — and for good reason. He brings experience and skill that could help push this Arsenal team across the finish line and finally win major titles.
The Brazilian winger has scored 68 goals in 267 appearances, playing an important role in helping Real Madrid win three La Liga titles and two Champions League trophies. He was also ranked among the top 30 players in the world last season.
But despite Rodrygo’s impressive résumé, he has grown frustrated with his lack of starts. The recent arrival of Kylian Mbappé has pushed him out of the preferred front two at Madrid, sparking speculation about a potential exit.
On paper, Rodrygo looks like a dream signing. His inconsistency, though, has drawn criticism. He might score seven goals in a single month, only to go completely silent the next. That type of streaky form raises concerns, especially for a club like Arsenal, which desperately needs reliable output in key moments.
That said, Mikel Arteta is known for his ability to develop and refine raw talent. With the right guidance, Rodrygo could evolve into a more consistent and dangerous threat in the Premier League. Still, it’s a risk — one that Arsenal will have to weigh carefully.
Gabriel Martinelli has been an important figure in Arsenal’s rise, contributing 25 goals and 13 assists across his last two Premier League campaigns. His direct style and relentless energy make him a threat down the left flank. That being said, as the Gunners look to build a squad capable of winning on multiple fronts, Martinelli alone may not be enough. Adding a player like Rodrygo could take their attack to a higher level.
Arsenal needs instant impact, not just long-term potential. While other targets like Nico Williams have promise, they may not be ready for the demands of elite European football. Rodrygo, however, has already been there — played in the biggest games, and delivered on the biggest stages.
Rodrygo’s experience, pace, flair, and proven track record could be the piece Arsenal need to finally cross the finish line in both the Premier League and Champions League.
If Arteta’s side manages to land Rodrygo alongside Benjamin Šeško and Martín Zubimendi, their title ambitions become very real. Three elite players covering three areas where the team seems to be lacking — Arteta may finally be making the right moves for a trophy-winning squad. The problem is, they’ll need to act fast — Liverpool and Manchester City are also reinforcing heavily. For Arsenal, the margin for error is gone. This is the summer to get it right.
