Texas A&M edge rusher and junior Shemar Stewart emerged as the highlight of the 2025 draft class, solidifying his status as a top prospect. The dominant, versatile Aggie is projected as an early first-round selection. He stands out among fellow Texas A&M defensive linemen Nic Scourton and Shemar Turner, following the NFL Scouting Combine and Texas A&M’s 2025 Pro Day.
Texas A&M Pro Day 2025

Texas A&M’s annual Pro Day was held on March 27 at the Bright Football Complex. This opportunity gave scouts, coaches, and front-office personnel one final chance to evaluate Stewart and 12 other Aggies ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft. All 32 teams were represented, and 80 NFL personnel traveled to College Station. Three NFL head coaches were also in attendance, Raheem Morris of the Atlanta Falcons, DeMeco Ryans of the Houston Texans, and Brian Schottenheimer, the Dallas Cowboys’ new head coach.
Stewart had nothing left to prove and chose not to participate in drills at Texas A&M’s Pro Day. He said he was able to chat with plenty of scouts, according to TexAgs and several interviews.
Shemar Stewart As A Prospect
As NFL teams continue the free agency period and intensive scouting, Stewart’s athletic skill set makes him an ideal fit for several franchises in need of a difference-maker on the edge. During his three years in Aggieland and 37 games played, Shemar accumulated 4.5 sacks, 65 total tackles, 30 solo tackles, 35 assist tackles, four passes defended, one forced fumble, and one return touchdown.
“He’s a phenomenal kid,” Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko said to TexAgs. “He has the athleticism and twitch, and that’s what they are looking for in an NFL pass rusher… He killed it at the Combine.”

Stewart’s strengths include:
- A rare combination of size, length, strength, and explosiveness
- Good first-step burst and speed-to-power rush
- Strong core and motor
- Powerful athletics
“Traits, versatility, and upside make his development a matter of when and not if”, according to NFL analytics.
Next Gen Stats score breakdown of Stewart includes:
- Production score – 64 (2025 Combine DE/EDGE rank: 26th)
- Athleticism score – 84 (2025 Combine DE/EDGE rank: 4th)
- Total score – 77 (2025 Combine DE/EDGE Rank: 7th)
Shemar Stewart’s Combine Performance And Myles Garrett Comparisons
At the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine in February, Stewert measured in at 6-foot-5 and 267 pounds, leaner than the 280-plus he was playing at while at Texas A&M. Stewart also stunned teams and evaluators on the Lucas Oil Stadium turf with freaky-athletic numbers, including:
- 40-inch vertical jump
- 10-foot-11 broad jump
- 84 3/4-inch wingspan
- 4.59-second 40-yard-dash time
- 1.58-second 10-yard-split time
After his standout performance at the Combine, Stewart drew comparisons to Texas A&M legend Myles Garrett. The Cleveland Browns’ defensive end has earned six Pro Bowl selections, four first-team All-Pro selections, and was the 2023 Defensive Player of the Year. Garrett was selected first overall by the Browns in the 2017 NFL Draft.

Stewart and Garrett are among only four players in NFL Combine history to record a 40-inch vertical jump while weighing in over 260 pounds. Compared to Garrett, Stewart is taller, leaner, and has longer arms, but his pass-rushing stats fall short. On one hand, Garrett recorded 32.5 sacks, whereas Stewart recorded 4.5, and only recorded 1.5 during his final collegiate season. Both Aggies spent three years at Texas A&M before declaring for the NFL Draft.

Garrett, now the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history, remains with Cleveland after securing a record-breaking contract extension.
Being compared to #95 is a compliment for Stewart. If drafted into the right system, he could follow a similar trajectory and become a dominant force in the NFL.
