Bayley returned to WWE television on the September 7 episode of Raw, and the question of her contract status turned into a dispute within hours. Two separate reports about a new deal say the opposite of each other.
Legacy Arena in Birmingham, Alabama, hosted a women’s Money in the Bank qualifying match between Lyra Valkyria, Sol Ruca, and Maxxine Dupri. Valkyria connected with Nightwing on Dupri and looked set to punch her ticket. Bayley emerged from under the ring and yanked referee Jessika Carr out before the count could finish.
Ruca took the opening and hit the Sol Snatcher on Valkyria, stealing the pin and the spot in the ladder match. Money in the Bank takes place October 10 at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans.
The beating carried on after the bell. Bayley unloaded strikes on Valkyria, chased her around ringside, and tried to put her through a table. Valkyria escaped before the move landed.
Bayley had been absent from WWE television since Saturday Night’s Main Event on July 18 at Madison Square Garden. Valkyria beat her that night and jumped her once the match ended.
Dave Meltzer said on Wrestling Observer Radio that a new WWE agreement was already done. “Yep, signed a new deal,” Meltzer said.
PWInsider pushed back on the report the same night. Multiple WWE sources told the outlet that no conversations about a new contract had taken place, because Bayley still has significant time left on her current deal. Anyone claiming she signed one as a condition of her return would be “100% wrong,” per the report.
The same PWInsider report addressed how long the run lasts. Bayley is back on the Raw roster full-time and will be traveling with the company going forward, which rules out a one-night appearance.
Timeline reporting over the summer only muddied things further. Bryan Alvarez said on Wrestling Observer Radio that a batch of WWE contracts were set to expire in October. Alvarez later speculated that the Bayley deal actually runs into January 2027. Nobody outside the company has produced a date that everyone agrees on.
Bayley has been with WWE since late 2012 and has held four women’s world championships on the main roster. The Role Model also won the Money in the Bank briefcase in 2019 and the women’s Royal Rumble in 2024. Two reigns with the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship alongside Sasha Banks sit on the resume as well.
Valkyria carries her own claim on the feud. The two met at Saturday Night’s Main Event in July, and the post-match attack that followed left the story unfinished. Ruca now heads to the ladder match with a qualifying win that came entirely from outside interference.
The return itself was the easy part, and WWE nailed it. Sneaking out from under the ring and dragging the referee away is the kind of entrance that gets an arena on its feet. No explanation was needed. Valkyria has a rival again, Ruca has a ladder match spot she did not earn, and Raw has a story worth following into October.
The contract mess is the part that should not be happening. One outlet says the ink is dry, another says the conversation never took place, and both are citing sources inside the same company. Somebody is wrong, and the odds of a public correction are close to zero.
Fans do not need a signed page to know what they watched. A wrestler who is finished with a company does not come back to start a program, take bumps, and get booked on the road.
None of that changes what matters on television. Bayley is on the Raw roster, on the road, and pointed directly at Valkyria. Everything else is noise until a contract with a date on it turns up.
