Stephen Curry trade rumors are heating up after rival NBA executives urged the Golden State Warriors star to consider leaving the franchise, according to sports reporter Evan Sidery. Here’s why the Charlotte Hornets, Boston Celtics, San Antonio Spurs, and Miami Heat could emerge as his top landing spots.

If Curry declines a contract extension with the Warriors, he will become an unrestricted free agent in 2027. He becomes eligible for a two-year maximum extension on August 29.

Stephen Curry Trade Rumors: Why The Hornets Could Bring Him Home

Imagine the Hornets have been stacking draft assets left and right for an all-in push to acquire Curry. Their hypothetical starting lineup could be Curry, Kon Knueppel, Brandon Miller, Naz Reid, and Moussa Diabaté.

I cannot stop thinking about the fit. Charlotte head coach Charles Lee runs a true three-point-heavy system, and they already ranked near the top of the league in threes made last season, second only to Golden State. The spacing and freedom would feel natural for him.

If Curry joined the current Hornets right now, it would be one heck of a squad. Shooters exist everywhere, and Moussa and Hannes Steinbach would grab every board. It is time for him to come home, plus his father, Dell Curry, used to play for them and broadcast their games.

Curry to the Celtics could be the most obvious move happening next offseason that nobody’s talking about. They are familiar with one another as they met in the 2022 NBA Finals, and he received the Finals MVP on Boston’s home court.

The Celtics are a real contender, and he could help Jayson Tatum out against the stacked East and play LeBron James’ Philadelphia Sixers four times a year. Their hypothetical starting lineup could be Curry, Derrick White, Paul George, Tatum, and Mitchell Robinson.

Stephen Curry Trade Rumors: How the Spurs Could Form A Curry-Wembanyama Dynasty Without Sacrificing Stephon Castle

Curry on San Antonio would be wild to see, but the financials alone are a massive roadblock. Absorbing $62.6 million for one year under the current salary cap system is almost impossible for them to pull off realistically, according to Spurs Report NBA writer/analyst Dusty Garza

For Curry to end up in San Antonio, a hypothetical trade package would involve De’Aaron Fox, Carter Bryant, and a 2030 first-rounder, among the Spurs, Dallas Mavericks, and Minnesota Timberwolves. This also includes a 2031 first-round swap rights via the Sacramento Kings, a 2029 second-rounder via the New Orleans Pelicans, and a 2030 second-rounder via the Cleveland Cavaliers. If he identifies them as his preferred destination, the Spurs, of course, should call.

San Antonio’s hypothetical starting lineup could include Curry, Dylan Harper, Devin Vassell, Tobias Harris, and Victor Wembanyama. Golden State gets a 28-year-old All-Star replacement in Fox, a recent lottery pick, and future draft capital, while the Spurs pair the greatest shooter ever with Wembanyama without sacrificing Stephon Castle or Harper.

If Curry wants to win and shock everyone, then he would sign with the Heat to play with Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo. He would have all that defense for him, and they desperately need spacing and a point guard. It fits like a glove.

Miami stills have their eyes on Klay Thompson and is hoping he gets bought out, according to Five Reasons Sports podcaster Ethan J. Skolnick. Their hypothetical starting lineup could be Curry, Thompson, Andrew Wiggins, Antetokounmpo, and Adebayo.

“Let’s do it, come on, man,” Curry stated to Antetokounmpo. In the summer of 2027, Curry hits free agency and could reunite with Wiggins, possibly Thompson, and pair up with Antetokounmpo, whom he has always wanted to play with.

Curry averaged 26.6 points per game while shooting 47% from the field, 3.6 rebounds per game, 4.7 assists per game, and 1.1 steals per game this season. He has too much left to be playing for what this franchise has become.

The latest Warriors news surrounding Curry trade rumors continues to generate speculation around the NBA. Among all the NBA trade rumors heading into next offseason, none would be bigger than Curry leaving Golden State.
