Wild Card weekend is almost here and there are four games with eight Super Bowl hopefuls, what does each team have to do to move on? Here is one key for each team to keep their season going in search of a Lombardi trophy.
Playing in Buffalo and being down early isn’t a recipe for success. Bo Nix, rookie quarterback, has thrown 12 picks this year. The worst possible outcome would be getting down early by two scores and turning it over. I could certainly see it happening. I don’t think this one will be particularly close.
The Bills will be gunning for a Superbowl. They have a likely MVP in Josh Allen and a good defense. Their opponent, the Denver Broncos are led by rookie QB Bo Nix. He has had some turnover issues during the season and thrown 12 picks this year. Buffalo can put this one away early with an early couple scores and a turnover or two. Certainly could see Nix show up here, but it’s likely that Buffalo will have him running for his life. I could see this either being a blow out or a close game. I am intrigued to see how Nix plays in Buffalo in a hostile environment.
This will be the big story of the game. After last week against the Bears, Jordan Love needs to come out play well. Love lost feeling in his throwing hand at some point in the game. I would expect the Eagles to test that and try and shut down Josh Jacobs. I think this will be the game of the weekend. I could see it really going either way. The Eagles have stars on both sides as do the Packers. The main issue the Packers might have is in the passing game. Christian Watson is injured and he is a good weapon for Love. That will certainly be a big loss but if Love is healthy, it might not matter.
There really isn’t another way for them to win this one. I think if the Packers can shut down Saquon Barkley, they have huge shot to win. The Eagles RB is over 2,000 yards on the year and he will be a focal point in this game. I am really intrigued to see how he holds up in the playoffs, as the Packers will be locked and loaded for it. Saquon has certainly shown even when teams prepare for him, he can still reek havoc on teams. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Malik Willis come into this one if Love isn’t 100 percent. The Packers certainly will do everything they can to win.
Tampa Bay has to get after Jayden Daniels early in this one. The rookie out of LSU is playing in his first NFL playoff game. The Bucs aren’t super flashy on the defensive side of things. They are ranked 18th in the league in overall defense. Washington will certainly push the ball down the field. I can easily see this game being one that ends in the 30s on both sides. I am definitely ready to watch two great offenses go at it. Which defense will step up is the question. The Bucs need to step up and get Jayden Daniels on the move and make him uncomfortable.
The Washington Commanders are into heading Tampa Bay with a Rookie of the Year Candidate in Jayden Daniels. The rookie QB has thrown for 25 touchdowns and only nine interceptions.
However, the story of this game won’t be the QB on Washington, it will be their defense. The Washington defense must find a way to stop the run. They haven’t been able to do it all year and rank 30th in the league. The Buccaneers are fourth in points per game, averaging 29.5 a game. Tampa Bay is averaging 265 passing yards a game. This will certainly be a battle to watch, as Washington only allows 205 yards per game through the air.
The Wild Card playoffs begin today and we will see who can pull out the win
