The 2026 MLB All-Star Game is once again packed with baseball’s biggest names, but every summer the excitement is accompanied by disappointment for players who put together All-Star-caliber seasons only to be left off the roster. Whether it’s because of positional depth, fan voting, or roster limitations, deserving players inevitably become casualties of the selection process.
This season is no different. Several players have produced outstanding campaigns and played major roles for playoff contenders, yet they will be watching the Midsummer Classic from home. Here are four of the most notable snubs from the 2026 MLB All-Star Game.
The Los Angeles Dodgers entered the season with championship expectations, but injuries once again tested the depth of their pitching staff. Justin Wrobleski answered the call and quickly established himself as one of the club’s most dependable starters.
Rather than simply filling innings, Wrobleski consistently gave the Dodgers quality starts and kept them competitive every fifth day. The 25-year-old’s ability to attack hitters with confidence, limit hard contact, and work efficiently allowed Los Angeles to remain near the top of the National League standings despite constant rotation changes. In his third season in the Majors, Wrobleski has grown into an ace-caliber starter, posting a 2.80 ERA with 64 strikeouts and a .217 average against through 93.1 innings pitched.
Pitchers on teams loaded with star power often get overlooked because established names dominate the conversation. That appears to have happened to Wrobleski, whose steady production never generated the same headlines as some of the league’s bigger stars.
While there were certainly several worthy National League pitchers selected ahead of him, Wrobleski’s value to the Dodgers cannot be overstated. Without his emergence, Los Angeles could have found itself in a much different position entering the second half of the season.
An MLB All-Star Game selection would have been a fitting reward for one of baseball’s most important breakout pitchers.
Milwaukee Brewers second baseman Brice Turang continues to establish himself as one of the most complete middle infielders in baseball, yet that wasn’t enough to earn him a MLB All-Star Game selection.
Turang’s offensive production has taken another step forward while he continues to provide elite defense and outstanding baserunning. The 26-year-old is batting .268 with 12 home runs and 53 RBIs to go alongside 13 stolen bases in 2026. Few second basemen impact winning in as many different ways as Turang does every night.
Although All-Star voting often favors home run totals and offensive star power, Turang’s overall value goes well beyond traditional counting stats. The second baseman’s ability to get on base, steal bases, save runs defensively, and consistently make winning plays has been instrumental to Milwaukee’s success.
Second base was one of the deepest positions in the National League this year, making the competition incredibly difficult. Even so, Turang’s all-around production compares favorably with several players who ultimately secured roster spots.
The All-Star Game is designed to showcase the league’s best players, and Turang has unquestionably performed at that level throughout the first half of the season.
Few players have improved their stock more during the first half than Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Braxton Ashcraft.
After entering the 2026 season with relatively modest expectations, Ashcraft has emerged as one of his club’s most reliable pitchers. Whether working deep into games or shutting down dangerous lineups, he consistently demonstrated the poise expected from veteran starters.
The second-year starter’s statistical production speaks for itself, but the consistency may be even more impressive. Throughout 2026, the right hander has amassed a 3.24 ERA while striking out 122 batters over 108.1 innings pitched. In addition, Ashcraft has avoided prolonged slumps and repeatedly delivered quality outings that helped stabilize his team’s pitching staff.
One reason he may have been overlooked is a lack of national attention. Players on smaller-market teams often need extraordinary numbers to receive the same recognition as stars from larger markets.
Still, when evaluating first-half performance alone, Ashcraft built a résumé that deserved serious All-Star consideration. Ashcraft’s command, durability, and ability to perform under pressure made him one of the American League’s most deserving omissions.
If he continues pitching at this level during the second half, his name should be firmly in the conversation for postseason awards.
Former first overall pick Mickey Moniak has finally put together the breakout season many believed was possible when he entered professional baseball.
Moniak has provided consistent offense for the Colorado Rockies alongside improved defense and timely hitting while becoming an everyday contributor for his club. The veteran’s confidence at the plate has been evident throughout the season, as he has shown the ability to hit for average (.277) while delivering key extra-base hits.
Unfortunately, the outfield remains one of the deepest positions in Major League Baseball. Every season, multiple deserving outfielders are left off the roster simply because there are not enough available spots.
That reality ultimately worked against Moniak.
Even though he may not have possessed the superstar reputation of several selected outfielders, his overall production made him a legitimate All-Star candidate. Moniak’s breakout campaign represents one of the better comeback stories in baseball and deserves far more recognition than it has received.
Missing the MLB All-Star Game should not overshadow what has already been a career-defining season. If Moniak maintains this pace, there is little doubt he’ll continue earning respect throughout the league.
Every All-Star roster sparks debate, and the 2026 edition is no exception. While fan voting and roster construction make it impossible to include every deserving player, that doesn’t make the omissions any less frustrating.

Braxton Ashcraft pitched like one of the National League’s most reliable starters. Mickey Moniak finally delivered the breakout season many had anticipated.
Each built a convincing case to be part of the Midsummer Classic, yet all were left watching from home. That’s simply the reality of an event featuring only a limited number of roster spots.
The good news is that All-Star selections don’t define careers. If these players continue performing at their current level, they’ll have far more important opportunities awaiting them when October baseball arrives.
