The Los Angeles Lakers have undergone a roster revamp in NBA free agency. The position impacted the most in the Center. They added Walker Kessler as the starter, but traded DeAndre Ayton to the Washington Wizards. That deal left them with a need at the backup center. Here are three rumored options to join Los Angeles.

Kevon Looney

Kevon Looney would be the most reliable backup center the Lakers could add in free agency. He’s always been a proven winner and trustworthy backup. It’s nothing flashy, but it will get the job done behind Kessler. The concern would be a potential injury from their new big-money center. They can’t rely on Looney to play any major minutes.

Jonas Valanciunas

Jonas Valanciunas has been rumored to go play overseas for years, so it’s unknown whether this should even be entertained. If he chooses to stay in the NBA, the Lakers seem to be the best fit. He’s similar to Looney in terms of reliability, but Valanciunas can be trusted to play more minutes and get some spot starts.

Quinten Post

Quinten Post may be the best option here for the Lakers. The Golden State Warriors’ RFA has drawn major interest from around the league and appears a lock to be given an offer sheet. The question is whether or not the Warriors would match the offer. The rookie stretch-five would give the Lakers a nice punch off the bench, potentially the only true floor spacer available at the center position.

UPDATE: Post has received an Offer sheet from the Memphis Grizzlies worth $30 million over three years. The Lakers will now turn to either Valanciunas or Looney has their primary targets.

End Of My Los Angeles Lakers Rumors Rant

The Lakers have been the winners of free agency so far, adding key rotational players all around. They need one more depth piece to lock up a major position. Adding one of these three players as a backup center would help expand their championship aspirations, even if it’s such a minor move.
