The type of player Halle Collins was is difficult to fully describe unless you witnessed it firsthand. Night after night throughout her career at Knox Central, Collins delivered performances that showcased not only her talent but also her toughness, consistency, and determination.
Halle Collins Leaves Historic Legacy At Knox Central After “Record-Breaking” Career
Collins finished her high school career with 3,337 points and 1,852 rebounds, becoming just the fifth girls basketball player in Kentucky history to eclipse both 3,000 career points and 1,500 career rebounds. She also left Knox Central as the school’s all-time leading rebounder, a testament to her relentless effort and physical style of play.
As a senior, Collins averaged 19.7 points and 13.5 rebounds per game while helping lead Knox Central to a 25-5 record and a fourth consecutive district championship. Her dominance earned her back-to-back 13th Region Player of the Year honors and cemented her place among the state’s elite players.
In recognition of her outstanding accomplishments both on and off the court, Collins was awarded the 2025 Donna L.J. Murphy Award, one of the most prestigious honors for female student-athletes in Kentucky.
More Than a Basketball Star

Collins will now turn her attention toward a new opportunity as she pursues a career as a physician assistant. A path that allows her to continue helping others just as she did throughout her time at Knox Central. The same work ethic, compassion, and determination that made her successful on the basketball court will now be used to make a difference in the lives of others.
The willingness to give back, encourage younger athletes, and serve as a positive role model within her community. Whether it was helping kids develop their skills, offering words of encouragement, or simply being a light for those around her, Collins consistently demonstrated the qualities of a true leader.
Collins legacy won’t be defined solely by the 3,337 points, 1,852 rebounds, or the records she set. Remembered through the lives she touched, the example she set, and the people she inspired to chase their own dreams.
From the Stands to Reality:
Most nights, there was a real opportunity for people to watch one of the top prospects in the state of Kentucky, and I was fortunate enough to be one of them. Every time she stepped on the floor, Collins played with an effort that was unmatched. She competed hard, stayed consistent, and brought a level of intensity that made every game worth watching.
Beyond the basketball, there was also a personal connection that made the experience even more meaningful. Our friendship grew over time, and also had the chance to see her share the court with my cousin which is more like a sister, Timberly Frederick. To this day, the two of them remain friends, which makes those memories even more special.
Getting the opportunity to watch both of them grow on and off the court was truly something I will always appreciate.
End Of My Halle Collins Rant
This is a proud moment for me personally, being able to write and speak about someone who was not only a great basketball player, but also someone who left a lasting impression on me as a person.
Collins’ legacy goes beyond what she accomplished on the court. She carried that same work ethic and impact into her college career at the University of Pikeville. Thank you Halle Collins for such an incredible ride! Super Proud of you.
