As these playoffs continue, it starts to look more and more inevitable that SGA and the Thunder are going to go back-to-back. He’s playing at an elite level, and he has his troops right along with him, playing just as well. This team doesn’t look to be slowing down any time soon, and with that, many people are asking themselves just how good Shai is compared to the all-time greats? It’s a serious question that must be answered because even at only 27 years old, he’s doing things that the previous great players of this game were doing, but in a shorter time.
Where Does SGA Rank Among All-Time Point Guards?
Currently, as it stands, he’s probably somewhere in the top ten. You could even make a case that he’s in the top seven already. This Thunder team has a legitimate shot at winning another championship, meaning SGA would now have two rings and most likely win his second Finals MVP. He already has won a regular-season MVP, and has the chance to win it for the second time in a row. He’s got three all-NBA first team selections, as well as four all-star game honors. If the Thunder win again this season, and SGA wins another MVP and Finals MVP, as well as another all-NBA first team selection, who’s to say he’s not in the top three point guards ever?

If he achieves all these awards this postseason, there will be some serious conversations about where he’s ranked, and some people might not want to hear it. Most people have Magic Johnson and Stephen Curry as their top two point guards in the history of the game. Some have Magic at one, some have Curry at one; either way you put it, that’s the top two. SGA could rank just behind these two legends when this season is all said and done, which is crazy to think about because the guy is just entering his prime years.
End Of SGA Rant
OKC is currently waiting for its next match-up, as they have already advanced to the Western Conference Finals. Their next opponent will either be the San Antonio Spurs or the Minnesota Timberwolves. Winning the championship for them won’t be an easy task, but if they can pull it off, they’ll be the first team to repeat as champs since the Kevin Durant Warriors. Shai could cement himself among the best players to ever grace this game. It will be interesting to see what these talks will look like if he is able to accomplish such a feat.
