Feast Week is back, and with the college basketball season heating up, it’s one of the most exciting weeks of the year. From regular-season matchups to holiday tournaments, the energy and anticipation is in the air.

Maui Is Down This Season

The Maui Invitational tournament is usually one of the highlights of Feast Week, but lately it hasn’t lived up to its reputation. This season, the matchups aren’t as exciting, and the level of competition has dropped.

Seton Hall Pirates vs. NC State Wolfpack, USC Trojans vs. Boise State Broncos, Washington State Cougars vs. Chaminade Silverswords, Arizona State Sun Devils vs. Texas Longhorns make up the slate. It’s not perfect, but the tournament is still a lot of fun.

The Players Era Tournament is being blamed for the weak field, as bigger schools are opting for other events and locations to strengthen their early season schedules. Schools are looking for a bigger splash when tournament time arrives.

Tune into Maui—the nostalgia of the tournament is still alive.
