Manchester United should prepare themselves for a possible departure as Bruno Fernandes is reported to be considering leaving the club. Saudi Arabia is quite interested in the Portuguese.
According to The Daily Mail, Fernandes’s agent Miguel Pinho had talks with Al-Hilal representatives in a hotel in Riyadh. The Saudi Pro League side is quite interested in signing Manchester United’s captain.
The Saudi side is ready to offer Fernandes £700,000 per week ($942,830 USD) as his salary. This number is also tax-free. If he was to agree the deal, then he would be making a jaw-dropping £200million ($269,340,000 USD) over three years. Not to mention that there will also be bonuses throughout the seasons.
The catch is that this offer isn’t permanent. Al-Hilal gave Fernandes 72 hours to make up his mind and let them know his decision. Apparently, they basically told him “take it or leave it.”
Someone of Fernandes’ caliber makes Al-Hilal’s huge offer understandable. He has been essential for Manchester United since he joined them, and this won’t change anytime soon.
The publication also reported that the Saudi side wants to land the Portuguese star before the Club World Cup starts. It might be a great chance for Fernandes to take the next step in his career. Such an opportunity doesn’t come along a lot.
While there are some reports that Manchester United doesn’t want to sell Fernandes, they might be forced to. The club has been struggling financially and they need to bring in new players that fit Ruben Amorim’s play style. Al-Hilal are reported to be ready to offer Manchester United £100m ($113,630,000 USD) for their star. This might be enough to convince them to let him go.
Fernandes himself has made it clear that he would understand if the club decided to sell him. He said before, “If the club thinks it’s time to part ways because they want to do some cashing in, it is what it is.”
I think that it is time for Manchester United to sell Fernandes. The star is getting older and the £100m offer might never be repeated again. It’s now or never.
