The Oklahoma City Thunder officially wrapped up their 2025 regular season with a 68-14 record, placing them at the top of the Western Conference. That ties them with the fourth most wins in NBA regular-season history and the highest point differential by any team ever.
What players helped them most throughout the year and earned their deserved awards?
This one is fairly obvious. The league’s presumed MVP is also the Thunder’s MVP for the 2025 season. Gilgeous-Alexander put up a league-leading 32.7 ppg, 6.4 assists per game, and 5 rebounds per game.
Combining the regular season with a dominant postseason and an eventual championship could cement his legacy as one of the best Thunder players ever.
It’s difficult to single out one guy on a widely considered the best defensive team this year. The Thunder led the league in defensive rating in 2025 and is led by one of the best perimeter defenders in the NBA, Lu Dort.
According to most sportsbooks, Dort has the third-best odds to win the NBA DPOY and has anchored the best defense in the league.
Usually guarding the other team’s number one option, Dort still has the 12th highest defensive rating among players. He has been nothing short of great on the defensive side of the ball this season.
Aaron Wiggins took a large leap in the 2024-25 season. He has become a key piece off the bench for OKC and a great fill-in starter when needed. All of his per-game stats are up this season compared to last.
He went from 6.9 to 12.0 ppg, 2.4 to 3.9 rebounds per game, and 1.1 to 1.8 assists per game. It seems like he is truly finding his game since being the team’s second-round pick back in 2021.
There were few options for rookies on this year’s Thunder squad, with their first-round pick, Nikola Topić, sidelined for the whole year with an ACL injury. One of their two 2024 second-round picks, Ajay Mitchell, still managed to have a solid rookie season despite being out injured for several weeks.
He scored 6.5 points on nearly seventeen minutes per game before going out with turf toe in January. He will look to find his way back in the rotation while returning from injury in the playoffs and build on his rookie campaign next season.
The 2025 Thunder were one of the best regular-season teams of all time. They will look to add to an already historic season by bringing a championship to Oklahoma City.
