The Chicago Bears come into the NFL Draft having minor needs on each side of the ball. The team had high expectations after securing number one overall pick Caleb Williams and number nine overall pick Rome Odunze in the 2024 NFL Draft. Ultimately, the Bears ended up firing head coach Matt Eberflus during the 2024 season who ended up getting replaced by Ben Johnson.
After free agency, the Bears hold seven picks in the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft. The Bears have a lot of flexibility going into the draft and this mock explores some of the best players that could be available during each of their picks.
Round 1, Pick 10: Ashton Jeanty, RB, Boise State

Having Ashton Jeanty fall to the Bears in this mock draft would be a dream scenario for this team. The Bears already invested in the trenches on both sides of the ball during free agency and decided to add a playmaker to help Williams. That is something the Bears sorely lacked last year, ranking 25th in rushing yards.
The Heisman runner-up, Jeanty, amassed a whopping 4,769 rushing yards and 56 touchdowns during his three-year college career. Jeanty can instantly come into Chicago and be the all-around back they have not had in years.
Round 2, Pick 39: Josh Simmons, OT, Ohio State

The Bears’ offensive line in 2024 was horrible, giving up a league-leading 68 sacks. In Free Agency, the Bears addressed the interior of their line, adding Joe Thuney, Drew Dalman, and Jonah Jackson. The Bears already have a left tackle whom they like a lot in fourth-year starter Braxton Jones. Jones is coming off season-ending surgery, and General Manager Ryan Poles talked earlier in the offseason about adding competition to that group.
Josh Simmons is also coming off season-ending surgery, but has plenty of experience starting 19 games at left tackle for the Buckeyes. With the right coaching, Simmons could eventually become the future left tackle for this team.
Round 2, Pick 41: James Pearce Jr., EDGE, Tennessee

Last year, the Bears struggled to get pressure on the quarterback they lacked the depth and talent, as they have not made many major additions in the draft. If the team wants that to change in 2025, they have to invest in younger pieces early in the draft who can be long-term playmakers.
James Pearce Jr. could come into Chicago and be an instant contributor as a rotational piece on that defensive line. What Pearce lacks in size, he makes up for in speed, running a 4.47 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine. His size is one of the main reasons teams might second-guess drafting him allowing him to fall to the second round in this mock draft.
Round 3, Pick 72: Isaiah Bond, WR, Texas

One thing Johnson preached when he came to the Bears was the idea of adding more speed to the offense, specifically the wide receiver position. While in Detroit, he had Jameson Williams and Amon-Ra St. Brown as receivers he could deploy anywhere on the field. The Bears currently do not have anyone on the roster with that type of burning speed.
Bond would be a perfect receiver to add to the Bears’ already talented room. Adding a receiver in the draft who posted a 4.39 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine would instantly add the much-needed speed the Bears are lacking. He is a very good route runner who was overlooked at Texas due to all of the talent they already had at receiver.
Round 5, Pick 148: Malachi Moore, S, Alabama

In round five of the draft, the Bears look to add some depth to the secondary by adding to a thin safety group. Both starting safeties, Jaquan Brisker and Kevin Byard, are free agents after the 2025 NFL season. Moore posted eight passes defended and two interceptions in his last year at Alabama. He would be coming in as more of a depth piece for this year, with the opportunity to start in the 2026 NFL season.
Round 7, Pick 233: Oronde Gadsden II, TE, Syracuse

Outside of Cole Kmet, the Bears have not had much production from any other tight ends on their roster. The 2025 NFL Draft is very deep at tight end, allowing the Bears to secure Oronde Gadsden II in the seventh round. He had a very productive season last year at Syracuse, posting 73 receptions for 934 yards and seven touchdowns.
Round 7, Pick 240: Jay Higgins, LB, Iowa

The Bears end this mock draft by adding linebacker Jay Higgins out of Iowa to shore up some depth at that position. He will most likely not get starting snaps on defense, but could be a key role player for their special teams. He is a very smart linebacker with good play recognition who could find himself a spot on the final 53-man roster.
