Barcelona’s luck seems to have run out as the team is dealt a blow by Marc Casado’s serious injury.
Barcelona’s Marc Casado is, unfortunately, injured after a challenge during the team’s match against Atletico Madrid. Now, the team will have to navigate without him.
Casado was injured after clashing with Atletico’s Antoine Griezmann during the first half of the game. He was then taken out and replaced by Eric Garcia in the 67th minute.
Barcelona revealed that Casado has a ligament injury in his right knee. The Spain international would undergo further tests to learn more about the injury.
SPORT journalist Toni Juanmarti states that the injury will make Casado be sidelined for two months if “we are optimistic.”
Juanmarti also said that it looks like the season is already over for Casado. This is a huge blow to the team who was enjoying a surge of great performances.
Due to Casado’s injury, he was withdrawn from the Spain national team’s roster for the International break. Casado previously made his first appearance for Spain in November.
Spain will be playing against the Netherlands on March 20 and March 23. These games are part of the Nations League.
Casado’s injury couldn’t have come at a worse time for the team. He has been part of Hansi Flick’s team this season as he made 36 appearances in all competitions.
Being a first-team player, Casado will surely be missed by Barcelona. During his appearances this season, he scored one goal and had six assists.
Barcelona won’t just be missing Casado, but Inigo Martinez has also been injured with a knee injury.
He was withdrawn from the national team as well. Casado and Martinez have been replaced by Dean Huijsen and Aleix Garcia for the national team.
While Casado’s injury is a setback for the team, they will have to adapt without him. Flick will have to see some replacements and hope for the best.
Barcelona are having a great season, and what will make it even better is if they manage to prove that they can keep up the good performances even with some of their players injured.
Barcelona will hopefully be able to move past this setback, or at least this is what fans are hoping for.
