The Southeastern Conference Women’s Basketball Tournament kicked off on March 5, 2025, with four exciting games. Here’s a quick recap:

Day 1 Game Recaps

No. 12 Georgia vs. No. 13 Arkansas: Georgia rallied to defeat Arkansas 79-74, led by Asia Avinger’s 19 points. Izzy Higginbottom scored 38 points for the Razorbacks.

No. 9 Tennessee vs. No. 16 Texas A&M: Tennessee dominated Texas A&M 77-37, with Talaysia Cooper scoring 19 points off the bench. The Volunteers’ defense held the Aggies to 26.5 percent shooting.

No. 10 Mississippi State vs. No. 15 Missouri: Mississippi State won 75-55 against Missouri. Destiney McPhaul (19 points) led a 2nd half shutdown of the Tigers, as State went on a 31-0 run to secure the win.

No. 11 Florida vs. No. 14 Auburn: Florida took down Auburn 60-50. Ra Shaya Kyle’s 16-point and 11-rebound double-double help the Gators pull away in the fourth quarter.

These games set the stage for an exciting second day of action at the Bon Secour Wellness Arena in Greenville South Carolina at the tournament.
