His response was succinct and dismissive: Jake Paul stands no chance against him in the ring.

At 48 years old, the former welterweight champion boasts an impressive record of 53 wins, 30 of which are knockouts. Although technically retired, “Pretty Boy” Floyd remains assured of his abilities in the ring. He confidently declared that facing Jake Paul would be “too easy, at 48, too easy.”
Mayweather has a history with the Paul family, which gives him insight into whether the younger Paul could stand up to him. In 2021, the boxer faced Logan Paul, Jake Paul’s brother, in a high-profile exhibition match. The fight extended to eight rounds, though it was not officially scored. Logan Paul has since pivoted his focus to the WWE. Mayweather humorously suggests that this career shift resulted from their encounter, remarking,
“Well, me and Logan had an exhibition, and that’s why he moved to WWE—because he wanted to hold me the whole night. He wanted to hold on; he wanted to wrestle. I think WWE is good for Logan.”
Jake Paul, known for vigorously defending his reputation, quickly responded to “Money’s” remarks. He argued in favor of his chances against Mayweather in the ring, citing the exhibition match between Floyd and Oladeji Olatunji (Deji), a YouTuber who turned to boxing.
During the 2022 bout between Floyd Mayweather and Deji, Deji landed a punch that left a welt under the champ’s eye, causing quite a bit of surprise and amazement. Floyd publicly praised Deji for his successful punch. The peculiarity lies in the idea that Deji’s punch somehow undermines Mayweather’s status as a tough competitor.

While it sounds convincing, this is a classic example of a false equivalency, as the two situations are not directly comparable.
Paul then escalates his claims by bringing up the Tyson fight, using it as further leverage. He claimed that Mayweather couldn’t handle Tyson in the ring. Paul’s statement was,
“You can’t sniff Mike Tyson’s toe.” Yet again, this is another false equivalency that lacks substance.

It’s important to recognize that Tyson’s weaknesses made the match uneven. His age and past health issues skewed the odds in Paul’s favor. The pre-fight training videos deceived many, but the initial rounds exposed the truth. This makes Paul’s use of this bout as proof ridiculous.
Mayweather doesn’t take Jake Paul seriously. In the interview, he joked that people pay to watch him fight, implying that the only way people would watch a match involving Paul is if it were free. It’s a harsh jab, but likely the only one the famed “boxing showman,” would bother to direct at Paul.
Ultimately, it’s all just hype—another PR stunt that mainly benefits Jake Paul. Mayweather has nothing left to prove, while Paul is eager to demonstrate his skills.
