The NFL Trade Deadline is here, and multiple teams enter it with a different mindset. Some teams are in it to sell, and other teams showcase their desperation to contend by overpaying. The Jonathan Mingo trade proved that, as he was traded to the Dallas Cowboys.
Keep in mind: if I grade a trade as a HACKENBERG that means it is an F Grade. The details of the Jonathan Mingo trade are down below.
Trade Details for Jonathan Mingo
Dallas Cowboys Acquire: WR Jonathan Mingo and a 2025 7th-Round Pick
Carolina Panthers Acquire: 2025 4th round pick
Dallas Cowboys Side

WHAT?!?! Did you trade a mid-round pick for Jonathan Mingo? Are you out of your mind, Jerry Jones? The Dallas Cowboys gave up more to get Jonathan Mingo than the Kansas City Chiefs did to get DeAndre Hopkins. What are they doing here?
Mingo has been a tremendous second-round bust for the Carolina Panthers and has been awful in the NFL. He struggles to separate from defenders, runs poor routes, and has a ton of drops. Mingo is still young, but there was no big market to obtain him. Complete awful draft capital management by the Dallas Cowboys, who are clearly desperate for wideout help.
Carolina Panthers Side

Carolina is going nowhere this season and is selling anybody. Jonathan Mingo has been a disastrous draft pick for Carolina, and he’s done a whole lot of cardio when playing football, but not much else. The Panthers getting some value in a later-round pick would have been fine. When Dallas was offering a mid-round pick for Mingo, that organization had to of done the moonwalk when they hung up the phone and agreed to the deal. Carolina did something they haven’t done in a while, fleece a team in a trade.
Grades For Jonathan Mingo’s Trade
Dallas Cowboys: HACKENBERG
Carolina Panthers: A+
Carolina easily wins this trade. They fleeced the Dallas Cowboys, getting a wide receiver number 5/6 for a mid-round pick. As for Dallas, I still don’t understand what the heck they are doing here. It’s clear that Jerry Jones is desperate for offensive help around Dak and not thinking straight about making this deal. Well done to the Panthers and for the Cowboys, they better know what they’re doing because this move is a head-scratcher.
