Nikki Bella challenges WWE Women’s Champion Chelsea Green on the Oct. 30 edition of SmackDown at the Charleston Coliseum in West Virginia. Green offered the title match on the Oct. 16 SmackDown, after Bella insisted backstage on becoming the next WWE Women’s Champion. Bella turned down the following week and picked Oct. 30. Green is already booked against Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan in a Champion vs. Champion Match at Crown Jewel on Nov. seventh.
Bella and Green have met in singles competition before. On the July 14, 2025, edition of Raw in Birmingham, Alabama, Bella pinned Green with the Rack Attack 2.0. The bout was Bella’s first singles match since 2018.
Green’s group, The Secret Hervice, retaliated after the bell. Piper Niven and Alba Fyre joined Green in an attack on Bella. Stephanie Vaquer ran in and chased the trio from the ring.
Green won the title in a five-woman ladder match at SummerSlam on Aug. second, beating Charlotte Flair, Jade Cargill, Lash Legend, and Tiffany Stratton. The match crowned an interim titleholder, as Rhea Ripley was out with a knee injury. WWE later dropped the interim tag and credited Green’s reign from Aug. second.
Five days after the ladder match, Green suffered a broken orbital bone on SmackDown. Medical clearance for a defense against Nia Jax came with one condition, a face mask. On the Sept. 11 SmackDown, Jax pulled the mask off, and Stratton took a punch from an interfering Legend. Green put the mask back on and retained with an Unprettier.
Bella beat Beth Phoenix for the Divas Championship on April 23, 2012, and lost it to Layla at Extreme Rules days later. The second reign started on Nov. 23, 2014, when Bella beat AJ Lee at Survivor Series. Flair ended it at Night of Champions on Sept. 20, 2015. No reign in the Divas Championship’s history lasted longer.
The comeback that started in 2025 has produced title shots but no gold. Becky Lynch retained the Women’s Intercontinental Championship over Bella at Clash in Paris. Vaquer did the same with the Women’s World Championship at Survivor Series: WarGames 2025. A WrestleMania 42 shot at the Women’s Tag Team Championship fell through when Bella was not medically cleared, and Paige took the spot.
The Bella Twins attacked partner Paige after Fatal Influence beat the trio in a six-woman tag match at SummerSlam on Aug. first. On the Sept. 11 SmackDown, Bella pinned Paige with a foot on the ropes. WWE.com noted it was the first one-on-one meeting between the two in more than ten years.
Bella cost Paige a six-woman tag match two weeks later. With the referee distracted, a trip from ringside set up Jacy Jayne’s Rolling Encore on Paige. Fatal Influence beat the team of Paige, Green, and Stratton.
Paige evened the score on the Oct. 16 SmackDown. After escaping Bella’s STF and hitting an Attitude Adjustment, Paige reversed a pin attempt and used the ropes for leverage to win. The loss came later in the same broadcast that saw Bella secure the title match.
Bella first confronted Green on the Sept. 18 SmackDown. At Money in the Bank on Oct. tenth in New Orleans, Stratton won the women’s ladder match, which earns the briefcase holder a title shot at any time. Morgan pinned Vaquer in a triple threat with Lynch on the same show to regain the Women’s World Championship.
Morgan and Green came face to face on the Oct. 12 Raw ahead of Crown Jewel. Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez then distracted Green during a non-title match, and Roxanne Perez won with Pop Rox. Four nights later, SmackDown general manager Nick Aldis confirmed that Perez is seeking a shot at Green’s title. Bella interrupted to ask why Perez would get an opportunity first.
Bella winning the WWE Women’s Championship in Charleston is the right call. Green has been running on fumes since SummerSlam, wearing a mask and needing Stratton to take a punch to survive a defense. Bella already owns a pinfall over Green. Lynch and Vaquer both turned away the Hall of Famer with the longest Divas Championship reign ever, and a third miss is not in the cards.
The cheating seals it. Bella put a foot on the ropes to beat Paige, tripped a former partner to swing a tag match, and walked into Green’s business without a second thought. Green has Morgan, Rodriguez, Perez, and a Money in the Bank briefcase to worry about. Something has to give, and Charleston is the spot.
A Bella win flips Crown Jewel upside down eight days out. Morgan could end up across from a Hall of Famer instead of a champion held together by a face mask. Crown Jewel needs exactly that kind of shake-up. Nobody in that locker room should count Bella out.
