With the Michigan Wolverines only a few months away from starting fall camp, let’s take a look at some potential breakout players in the 2025 season.
WR Andrew Marsh
The 6-foot, 4-star receiver from Fulshear, Texas, is among the highest-rated wide receivers in Michigan football recruiting history. Marsh put up some great stats in high school, over 3,500 yards receiving during his four years, with 36 total touchdowns. He brings great speed and agility to a Michigan team needing a receiver of his talent level and potential.
The addition of Marsh immediately brought up the talent level of the wide receiver room, and while only a freshman, I could see him getting significant reps throughout the season. Getting him open in space will be the key for the Wolverines, as this is where he succeeds. Michigan will surely use his talent throughout the season, whether it is in the kick return game or at receiver. Marsh’s ability to get open and RAC will make him a reliable and frequent target, which is why I have him on my 2025 breakout players list.

DB Jeremiah Lowe
Depth has been a concern to many with the defensive back room, with really only two starters fully locked in, Zeke Berry and Jyaire Hill. Lowe played a fantastic spring game, with 2 interceptions. The sophomore did not play much other than special teams in 2024, but will look to compete during the fall to get more reps at corner or even nickel.
Lowe’s impressive 2025 spring game has shown he has great ability, I fully expect him to get reps this season either at corner or nickel.

TE Jalen Hoffman
Jalen Hoffman had himself an extremely impressive spring. After constant highlights of some amazing grabs at spring practice, he showed off in the spring game, having 148 yards on 7 catches, and the game-winning touchdown. Coach Sherrone Moore said his spring game MVP was Jalen Hoffman.
“He’s a super athletic kid with really great ball skills and hands… He’s a guy we definitely look forward to watching in the season,” coach Moore said.
With the departure of Colston Loveland to the NFL, many expected Marlin Klein or Hogan Hansen to step up and take over his spot. However, the surge of Hoffman during the spring throws a new name into the starting tight end competition.
I’m going to buy into the spring hype and say that I expect Hoffman to have a huge breakout season and to finish with the most yards of all Michigan tight ends.

EDGE Cameron Brandt
Cameron Brandt had 3 sacks and 13 tackles in 2024, and will look to add on to these numbers in 2025. The 6-4 EDGE combines power with speed and will be in the rotation in 2025, albeit behind TJ Guy and Derrick Moore.
With a higher snap count in 2025, expect a similar year from Brandt to TJ Guy last season, who had 32 tackles and 5.5 sacks. The defensive front for the Wolverines will have great depth in 2025 if Brandt can meet or exceed expectations throughout the season. Expect a breakout year from him.

OL Andrew Babalola
Andrew Babalola is one of the two five-star Wolverines from the 2025 recruiting cycle. The 6-6, 300-pound offensive lineman has amazing hands, power, and technique, which I’m sure Sherrone Moore appreciated while on the recruiting trail.
With another potential year of shakeup among the offensive line, we could see Babalola start at some point during the season, especially if his raw talent is too good to keep off the field. Babalola is on my breakout players list because he has the potential to be one of the next great Michigan offensive linemen.

End Of My 2025 Breakout Players Rant
The 2025 Michigan Wolverines team is stacked with talent, and if these 5 players can live up to their potential this season, Michigan will be a dangerous team.
