Due to a rash of injuries on the major league roster, several Toronto Blue Jays prospects have already made their debut in the 2026 season. With the team currently outside the playoffs and more injuries likely, Toronto could be in a position to call up more prospects rather than trade them for major league talent. Here are three prospects that will likely make their Blue Jays debut after the All-Star break.
One prospect in a position to benefit from injuries is starting pitcher Grant Rogers. The 23rd-rounder has spent the 2026 minor league season in AAA after working his way through the lower levels. With other top pitching prospects injured and a wealth of experience, Rogers is the most likely of this group to get the call for his major league debut in the second half.
The 25-year-old pitcher has started 18 games in AAA during 2026, compiling a 2-8 record. During his starts, Rogers has a 5.53 ERA with 52 strikeouts and 25 walks. While his fastball sits in the low-90s, he boasts a seven-pitch arsenal, highlighted by a mid-80s cutter. His cutter and fastball are accompanied by a sinker, slider, splitter, changeup, and a newly learned curveball.
One of the biggest things working in Rogers’ favor when seeing who may be called up the rest of the season is his extensive experience in the minor leagues. In his three seasons in the minors, he has logged a staggering 346.2 innings pitched. While the starting rotation is currently healthy, he could join the rotation if another injury occurs or come out of the bullpen as a fresh arm when rosters expand.

Likely MLB Debut: August
Having already seen fellow infielders like Charles McAdoo and Sean Keys make their debut, Josh Kasevich will likely follow in their footsteps and debut this summer. The second-round pick from 2023 is spending his third straight minor league season in AAA, splitting time between shortstop and third base. With multiple infield prospects already seeing major league hitting, Kasevich is likely to see time in Toronto this season.
In his third season with Buffalo in AAA, Kasevich is batting .291 with three home runs and 36 runs batted in. Through 90 games, he has scored 54 runs and walked 42 times compared to 43 strikeouts. In the 2026 minor league season, Kasevich has played 41 games at shortstop, 29 at third base, and 12 at second base.
If the Blue Jays call up Kasevich, he would be the third infielder to make their debut for the team in 2026. With McAdoo struggling during his stint with Toronto, the team could opt to give Kasevich a shot to see how he fares in the major leagues. Kasevich’s positional flexibility and ability to get on base make him an attractive candidate should any infield starters suffer an injury or the team drop further out of contention.

The least likely of this group, R.J. Schreck, faces an uphill battle to make his debut as he returns from injury. With Yohendrick Piñago having already made his debut early in the season, Schreck has been widely viewed as the next person up in the outfield. Having been moved to the 60-day IL on July 11, the earliest Schreck could make his Toronto debut is mid-September.
Before suffering an injury on an awkward slide, Schreck was batting .230 over 56 games during the AAA season. In those games, he hit seven home runs with 36 runs batted in, while scoring 34 runs. Showcasing his discipline at the plate, Schreck has totaled 39 walks against 44 strikeouts. Over the course of his minor league career, he played every position in the outfield.
After a strong 2025 minor league season and an appearance for Israel at the World Baseball Classic, Schreck was expected to make his debut for the Blue Jays in 2026. Now on the 60-day IL, those debut plans have been put on hold until he gets healthy. Unless Schreck returns in September and immediately is lights out at the plate, he likely will not appear in Toronto this season.

The Blue Jays have had to rely on several prospects before the All-Star break, and that trend will likely continue after the break. With injuries to fielders and the pitching staff, more Toronto Blue Jays prospects will likely still make their debuts in 2026. Prospects Rogers and Kasevich will likely be the next ones up, with Schreck needing a healthy rehab stint and return to the lineup to get consideration.
