WWE Backlash is in the books.
On Saturday, the world’s largest wrestling promotion hosted its annual post-WrestleMania PLE at the Benchmark International Arena in Tampa, Florida. While the event was headlined by Roman Reigns defending the World Heavyweight Championship against Jacob Fatu, most of the anticipation went towards John Cena’s announcement.
Here are three lessons learned from the event…
3) Sami Zayn Should Go Full-Blown Lunatic (Again)

Remember when Sami Zayn played a crazed conspiracist during the pandemic? It was probably the best heel run by someone who is naturally a likable underdog face.
Now that Trick Williams has repeated against him to remain the United States Champion, Zayn should move on and lose himself. Up to now, he believes he is fighting for the fans, when his recent antics are anything but heroic. That should change with this latest defeat.
2) Bron Breakker Should Win The John Cena Classic

Bron Breakker beat Seth Rollins to open the card, overcoming a Pedigree to land two devastating spears. Alas, it will not do much for his title hopes.
Fatu is not yet done with Reigns. GUNTHER is challenging Cody Rhodes in Italy. So, what does he do?
Luckily, John Cena has announced the “John Cena Classic”. The exact details have not been revealed yet, but what is known is that it will feature stars from both the main roster and NXT. Breakker should be an early favorite to win, and it should lead to something significant.
1) Asuka May Be Gone From WWE Soon

Asuka has not been in the best situation over the past few weeks. Her supposed match against Iyo Sky was bumped off WrestleMania 42 because of an injury to Nikki Bella of all people. It finally happened on Saturday, but she lost.
The aftermath, however, was more telling. Both joshi stars had an emotional embrace, and Asuka even raised Sky’s hand – a far cry from when she used mist during their segment five nights ago.
It could mean one thing: Asuka is leaving WWE. After all, her old partner Kairi Sane was released in the middle of the storyline, removing its key reason. Who is to say TKO will cut her next? Or maybe she preempts them by requesting her release after declining a pay cut, as The New Day have been confirmed to do?
End Of My WWE Backlash Rant
WWE’s next event is Clash in Italy next month.
As mentioned before, Rhodes is expected to defend the Undisputed WWE Championship against GUNTHER. Fatu and Reigns might continue their rivalry. One or both of the main women’s title may be on the line.
Whatever happens, Triple H and the rest of creative must be hard at work planning the narrative beats leading to Rome…
