The first day of the 2025 NFL Draft is in the books. The Lions made a surprising selection of Ohio State DT Tyleik Williams, and now they’ll have two selections on Day Two. There are still loads of great prospects left, and here are five that the Lions could be targeting.
Carson Schwesinger, LB, UCLA

It wouldn’t be surprising if Schwesinger turns out to be the best linebacker in this class. He has incredible instincts and plays every game like it’s his last. Plus, he’s one of the best stories in the draft. He went from walk-on in 2021 to First Team All-American in 2024, his first season as a starter.
Jonas Sanker, S, Virginia

This feels like beating a dead horse, but Sanker needs to be on everyone’s radar. He’s aggressive, physical, and decisive. He plays the game loose and without hesitation, and it pays off more than it backfires. He can play in the box, deep, and on special teams. He is a football player, pure and simple.
3. Tate Ratledge, OG, Georgia

Ratledge has the mentality and technique to become a long-time starter at guard. He looks for people to bury in the run game and holds his ground in the pass game. He tested extremely well at the combine, earning a 9.96 RAS score, although those numbers seem inflated compared to how he looks on tape.
4. Pat Bryant, WR, Illinois

Bryant is a traditional X receiver. He lacks elite speed and explosiveness, but makes up for it with intelligence, physicality, and elite ball skills. He had excellent production in his final season, 54 catches, 984 yards, 10 touchdowns, and 18.2 yards per catch. He is also a solid and willing blocker.
5. Josaiah Stewart, Edge, Michigan

Due to his lack of size, Stewart seems destined to be a situational pass rusher or to move to linebacker and be used in blitz packages. He can use his burst, bend, and quickness to get around the edge, something he did with great success in college, notching 14 sacks over the past two seasons.
End of My Lions Rant
These five players are exactly the type of culture fits the Lions’ are looking for, and they are intriguing targets for their Day Two picks (60, 102). Don’t be surprised if they acquire another Day Two pick via trade to take another one of these guys.
