The NFL Combine has officially concluded and there were a ton of prospects that participated. There are a lot of players that raised their stocks at the combine. For the next few days, every position will be looked at and there will be three players that will be ranked as the highest risers. The next position will be at Tight End.
Out of all the tight ends at the combine, Thomas Fidone was the most impressive. He looked poised and confident running the drills for tight ends. His athleticism was solid through the testing and his speed was displayed. He had the 3rd fastest 3-cone time for tight ends finishing at 7.01 seconds. Fidone also had a 40-yard dash time of 4.7 seconds, which is decent for somebody who weighed in at 243 pounds. Where he thrived the most was on the flexibility and jumping tests. His vertical was 35.5 inches and his broad jump was 10’6″ which is the most in the Tight End group.
Fidone needed a good combined performance because, despite his potential, he has a ton of durability issues. As the usual saying goes, your best ability is your availability, and that was a problem for him. The tape is nice, but a stronger performance would have raised his draft stock. Well, mission accomplished, as he was impressed.
Terrance Ferguson has been getting a lot of hype from analysts, fans, and certain scouts. A big reason why is due to his athleticism playing on the football field. Well, that got fully showcased at the combine as he put really good numbers in multiple tests. For the 40-yard dash, he had a 4.63 second time which was the fastest time in the tight end group. He even got the best measurement for tight ends in the vertical jump at 39 inches. At this point, his stock kept rising and the combine helped in that.
Out of all the tight-end prospects in this class, Jalin Conyers from Texas Tech is very interesting. He is more of a project prospect, but his athleticism showcases his potential. That was showcased through his performance at the combine. He had the fastest 3-cone time from all the tight ends finishing with 6.94 seconds. Conyers ran a solid 40-yard dash time at 4.74 seconds. Along with his broad jump of 10’1” and 35.5 inch vertical jump, his flexibility helps him stand out. The combine helped raise Conyers’ draft stock and a team will more likely take a chance at him during the draft.
